Re: Ebooks
I haven't read a book in years  I just don't have the attention span for it. I find myself with the same problem. I read too much online, especially news. It's distracting to have a phone that can do so much. I downloaded Overdrive (and I can put my library card in it) to check out ebooks. I ...

Re: Ebooks
Anyone owns one? I have a kindle paperwhite. I was reluctant to get one because I liked the "feel and smell" of holding a book, but it's so much more convenient to carry than, say, a 500 pg book. No, I try to keep my gadgets to a minimum, I hate bugs and malfunctions. I'm a librarian and every time...

Re: What bands / albums do you recommend?
Alright, here's my contribution to the actual topic: Borknagar! Not power metal, but they're pretty epic and melodic and progressive at times. These tracks are from their latest releases, they've been around for a while.

I don't get it either. I know Jari Mäenpää is a genius (allegedly) and I'm a retard, but to me Time I sounds awfully bloated and cluttered. It sounds like he tried to cram ten hours of musical cooom into one CD.

Re: What bands / albums do you recommend?
- Wintersun's "The Forest Seasons" was actually awesome. I won't give a rating yet as I'm still working my way through it. Its a much more mature album than the debut. I like the debut best, it's goofy and over-the-top alright, but that's the charm of it. It's a creative herring salad explosion, as...

Re: Coffee
Yup. When my UC flares up I have to give up alcohol. Coffee is still ok but I replace it with herbal tea instead. Mint has caffeine so I drink that. How much do you drink in a week, robolol? 8 cups a day. Over 40 a week? I also drink tea. Green, black. Some sleep tea that never works for me l...

Re: True Religion
There are two simple arguments that make all religions pointless. All religions pointless? Empirical descriptions of the universe. Is that what religions are to you? You show complete lack of will to understand the moral component, which, at least in my opinion, is the very core of Christianity. I ...

Awesome, what's your masters in? General history. The thesis deals with Spanish national identity, school books in history and blah. That actually sounds pretty interesting! Are you planning on focusing on academia or will you try to find a 'real' job? I don't have any clear plans for the future. T...

Also, I was really put off by the whole Tolkki drama and the general chaos. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for weirdness, but I get enough of it in rea...

Take a ferry from Sweden to Finland (or vice versa). Tax-free beer & cigarettes, drunk pensioners, gypsies. It's a surreal experience.

I hate to say it, but in the grand scheme of things, 911 wasn't all that bad... I hate to agree, kind of. One big reason why 911 was such a huge shock is that the distribution of wars in the 20th century were geographically highly unequal. There were no significant military conflicts in the western...

I think that the oil flow to Europe, particularly France has at least something to do with all of this, so they deserve a slap or two at the very least. lol Italy and Libya are (were?) important business partners, that's also where the lion's share of Libyan oil went. Q. Who's really behind them? A...
