Re: Unrealized Songs
Ah. Well, that explains it - Wikipedia seems to be missing that Timo bonus track album info. Glad that I now know where the song is from, though. Thanks.

Unrealized Songs
Does anyone have any idea what this... album(?)... is about? There are several download links for it around Google, supposedly 10 tracks and released in 2005 - but no information. Which makes me very doubtful. But I have one song that's supposedly off of it and that I can't find in ANY other Stratov...

Re: DragonForce... ?
Yeah, that's what I thought. (With Body Breakdown, I mean) I've heard the Slap Bass MIDI sound and figured that's what it was. Didn't recognize it right off the bat in BB, but it came to mind when you mentioned it. If I'm not mistaken, every member of the band had their own solo in that song, and th...

Slap... wait, what? Which one?
The only solo that really stands out to me is Body Breakdown. Said it a few posts ago, but that's definitely the only one that reminds me of game music.

Re: DragonForce... ?
Game effects? I still don't see the whole game concept everyone seems to say is behind their music... it doesn't sound remotely like anything I've ever heard in a video game, and in most cases I have a very difficult time imagining their music in one. Rhapsody, on the other hand... THEY'RE stuck in ...

Re: DragonForce... ?
*Venn ;P In any case, the thread is here, and as long as there's a valid discussion I see no point in moving it. To me, the best bands go far beyond their members and should not be classified by them individually. I'm getting tired of arguing against another brick wall. Someone bring up a DF-related...

Re: DragonForce... ?
How is being in the same genre not related? If you believe they're in the same genre, stand by it, if not, that's fine, but don't be hypocritical. I don't call either of them metal but they're similar enough that it seemed fitting in this forum. Especially since a large part of the discussion in thi...

Re: DragonForce... ?
As many times as I've heard Soldiers of the Wasteland (for reasons I won't go into, it's a lot more than most of their songs) I still can't for the life of me remember it off the top of my head... which leads me to believe it apparently wasn't all that memorable for me. :( I remember the last line o...

Re: Timo/ Matias acoustic in TV2 (Finland), Deep Unknown links
Still, seems a bit odd that they don't record their albums in Finnish. (Or if they do, somebody's been lying to me.) Granted that they're apparently pretty popular in their home country. At least, none that I remember... was there a Finnish recording of Papillon? I know it was multilingual, wi...

Re: DragonForce... ?
If you're talking about what I think you're talking about (I'm not one for musical definitions) they pulled something similar in Once in a Lifetime, jumping an octave for the final chorus repetition.

Lol. I tend to be a fan of the more melodic pieces... I still can't find a whole lot of one in Disciples of Babylon. <:3 I like the melodies in Once in a Lifetime and Body Breakdown (that song has its own strange little style... some of the solos actually reminded me of the early Sonic games). Black...

Re: DragonForce... ?
Nobody's arguing whether it's vital or not. Nobody's arguing whether that's how they make money. And nobody's arguing about how much they make off records compared to concerts. What's being argued is how a band's playing live is directly related to their being taken seriously by what you claim to be...

Re: DragonForce... ?
... is how they make money. Not how they're taken seriously. People take them seriously by liking their music, and they're much, much more likely to spend $10 on a CD album than they are to spend $100 (plus travel expenses) on concert tickets.

Re: DragonForce... ?
Of course fewer people would bash on them if they weren't popular. Because fewer people would know of their existence. The only reason the scale appears tipped (but isn't) is because their fanbase is so enormous that their minority overpowers other bands' majorities. Think about it. If the scale wer...

Re: DragonForce... ?
I don't know if I'd say serious and deep, personally... more so than DragonForce, but my key reason for loving Stratovarius is the simple but effective melodies they manage to make use of. It's among the most melodic music I've heard, to say the least... but as far as the lyrics, solos, and non chor...

No, I don't give a shit whether they do or don't alter their playing speed or perform live. All I honestly care about is that I find the music enjoyable to listen to with a certain embodiment of power that I personally listen to these sorts of bands in order to find. Live performances are horribly ...

Their songs don't have much flow, no. At least I don't think so... especially their later ones. To me, they're deteriorating. Seems like they're running out of ideas with the style they're trying to maintain.

Re: DragonForce... ?
It's more than likely another quip about their supposedly altering the speed of their recordings. As I've stated before, I won't pretend to know if they do or not (given what I've heard I choose to believe they do, at least), and I honestly don't care either way. As far as Webster's concerned they'r...

Eh. I'll wait for the album.
I've pirated so many Strato songs I owe it to them to wait it out, at the bare minimum.

Re: Higher we go full track
I haven't heard the song, but the lyrics sound kind of DragonForce-ish... upbeat and noble. Which isn't bad if it's not overused. Kotipello wrote most or all of the Eagleheart lyrics, too, so here's hoping there are a few darker tracks on the album. (I'm looking at you, King of Nothing... )
