Re: How Long Before Jani Officially Joins Stratovarius?
I don't think having two guitarists in Strato would be the best idea. Jens plays too large of a role in the melodies and overall sound; if you put Jani in there, either he, Jens and Matias are going to have to fight to stay on top of each other, or Lauri disappears from the equation. Although I do w...

Best post-Strato Tolkki album?
After looking back, I still think it's Trinity. Gus had a really cool voice, and the album did remind me of a harder edged Infinite with better solos. Also listing them, holy shit he's been busy since he left Stratovarius. Flop or not, I'll be really surprised if Avalon III doesn't show up sometime ...

Re: Stratovarius playing full Visions performance at PPUSA
I honestly think Visions is a bit overplayed. They do all the good songs on a semi-regular basis, and other than Holy Light's specific solos, I think most of us could've been happy with the six Visions songs on Live in Tampere. But then again, I'm biased against the album. I'd prefer Infinite, if on...

I love these old songs in D minor!
It almost sounds more 80's with Jens and the key change. Like a workout montage.

Re: SONATA ARCTICA – New Album "Pariah’s Child"
Agreed. I think as albums, the whole package, both Elysium [/i] and Nemesis [/i] are more solid. I'd have to put Pariah's Child above Elysium. The title track on Elysium is nothing short of otherworldly, but I feel like some of the other songs (specifically Infernal Maze and Fairness Justified) are...

Re: SONATA ARCTICA – New Album "Pariah’s Child"
Well I ran through the songs, here is my first impression of the final six: 5. Blood - I love this one. This is the second-longest song on the album but ends far too fast. 6. What Did You Do In The War, Dad? - My favorite song. So feelsy, and the section starting just before 2:00 sounds like it came...

Re: SONATA ARCTICA – New Album "Pariah’s Child"
Well my entire-Sonata-discography playlist has finally made it to Pariah's Child, and I got right up to the closing of Cloud Factory as I came home. So here are my initial thoughts on the first four songs: 1. The Wolves Die Young - I like the chorus and the verses musically, and the time signature c...

Re: SONATA ARCTICA - Ecliptica (2014 Re-Record)
Why do people have such a problem with the SW trilogy remakes? I like the 2004 ones, and only consider them inferior to the Adywan ones of 2008 and TBA.

Re: SONATA ARCTICA - Ecliptica (2014 Re-Record)
I'm a fan of re-recordings. It's always nice to have two renditions of something instead of one.
Right now Ecliptica is my least favorite album. If the re-recording changes my opinion on that, I'll actually shell out the money for the new album as well.

Re: SONATA ARCTICA – New Album "Pariah’s Child"
I really like the samples! They remind me a lot of The Days of Grays (especially Larger than Life and Blood) and to some extent even RN. I've always enjoyed the even-numbered Sonata albums more than the odd (although I do love all of them), so this is fine by me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKuSbAO2KUs Just now stumbled upon this recording.
