Re: New Sonata Arctica Single
I went to a Sonata Arctica concert the other day and it was very lifeless. No one besides Tony was having fun on stage. I think the guy is role playing as Freddie Mercury and the others are bored as hell. By contrast its incredible how much energy and chemistry the band has in the live footage from...

It's funny, now that Talviyo is out, The Ninth Hour has really grown on me. I actually enjoy listening to it now.

Re: New Stratovarius album: a list of demands
Just missed the Labyrinth train. But I'll still give my opinions. I've listened to 4 albums so far. Return to Heaven Denied 1 & 2 are stellar with the first one being a little better. Architecture of a God is maybe somewhere in between. I didn't like Sons of Thunder at all for some reason. Couldn't ...

Eternal/Enigma aren't in here and my tastes have moved around in the intervening years but I'd still put 030366 as my least favorite song and Elements as my favorite

Re: Four nights?
Maybe TK has 200 IQ and he referenced a specific event that none of us even knew about Maybe he just needed to spend 4 days with a Finnish to English dictionary to make sure the words were right (maybe the other Timo needed this but I don't think this one does) Maybe he spent 4 days doing something ...

Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
I am hearing rumors from people within the business that Timo barely had anything to do with Return to Eden. Sounds like it's Revolution Renaissance all over again. Again, just rumors, but... wouldn't surprise me. Could be, but it sounds enough like him that I can't take those rumors too too seriou...

Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
First listen. Gorgeous art and great production. Not sure how I'd rank it yet. My tastes are Trinity > In Paradisum > Land of New Hope, and I'd probably put this one on either side of the Symfonia album.
All in all good, not sure if I'd call it great yet.

Re: A new album I'm working on
Time is fucking lit. I love what you've done to your voice, that little bit of reverb. I've never played either game you mention here, but between the spacy vocals, the sawtooth (I think?) solo, the polyrhythms + general prog vibe, and the content of the lyrics, this reminds me a lot of some of the ...

Epidemiya - The Russian Kamelot? (The Legend of Xentharon)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVOqnGse3zY Came across this band a while back. Maybe it's just me but their latest album (2018) has a really similar vibe to Kamelot's Haven. By transitivity it's probably close to something Strato enthusiasts would listen to. The story's really good but all the lyri...

Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
I don't like this one tbh. I feel like Anneke's melody line moves around a lot but there isn't a lot of dynamism in the rest of the main instruments. The bass stays on the same note for the entire verse, the chord changes are pretty safe and uninteresting throughout the chorus, and there's nothing I...

Re: Timo Tolkki's Avalon Pt. 3 and tour
I'm going to pretend TT composed all of this all on his own. Chorus is unmistakably his, but either he tried something completely different when composing the verses, or he got some help.
That said, sounds promising! I like the production too.

Honestly given TT's latest work I don't want him to touch the next Strato album. The new Avalon record might change that opinion though

Re: Sonata Antarctica - Windows of Lost Time
Really enjoyed the transcription of the keys as "pirubirubirubiru" lmao This is a great song and I like your rendition of it. The song gives off this vibe that someone trained a machine learning algorithm on the first three Sonata Arctica albums and this is what it generated. So I guess mission acco...

Re: Enigma: Intermission Pt.2 opinions
Definitely agree with Timo's vocals being stellar. The vocals for the orchestral songs are brand new I'm guessing? They all sound nice on all 4 songs. I wasn't expecting Matias either. What a great blend, really. I wonder if Rolf will continue Jorg's tradition of not writing any songs, but I would l...

1. This album has Lauri Porra's name all over it. I don't know if song credits for the new songs have been released. I'm guessing Jens did Burn Me Down and I'm positive Lauri wrote Oblivion; the jury's still out on Enigma. But of the 13 existing tracks on this record, 6 of them are Porra's: Hallowe...

Re: Enigma: Intermission Pt.2 opinions
I miss Tolkki’s Stratovarius. Al these songs are ok but they dont hold the Stratovarius essence al all. Maybe I am being nostalgic but anyway. The new Strato is powerful, loud, and dark. It is a commodity to the modern power metal. I am enchanted to listen to these tracks as I feel the message with...
