yes. they play metal and they are melodical. where´s the problem ? you can´t call ´em speed-metal. i could list a big bunch of strato-songs which aren´t speed-metal, and if this list is so long, they´re not doing speed-metal.
the yaren´t trash, or gothic, or black or death or something like this. the aren´t true-metal, maybe this power-metal fits here, but i don´t know.

for me it´s melodic metal.

Mmm... bands like Gamma Ray, Edguy or Helloween are pure power metal. Strato have other influences or other different sounds in their music.

It's "melodic power metal" and as far as melodic power metal, there is no better band. Ever. And there have been no better melodic power metal songs than the ones Tolkki writes. Nor will there be. Ever.

You're so right Stratovarius is the best "melodic power metal" but they have other little influences too.

yeah well i have this talk before, but yes, here where i am (venezuela) there are some metal guys that separates the powermetal style into two, so when you say powermetal USA you asociate this whit slayer and those bands ,but when you say powermetal Europe, you mean, strato, helloween, this is beacuse the first pantera record was called "powermetal" back in the 80s, at least is what they say, but i dont care that much, beacuse i dont lisent pantera, slayer or that stuff, anyway, this is worthless.

Slayer is rather trash imho.

Melodic metal or power metal, I think.
