Re: final fantasy advent children
It's a CG movie that will be released in DVD in 2005 (Japan), as far as I know.
It's a sequel to FFVII.

Yep! Advent Children is a movie. It takes place two years after the game FFVII. And a new game, called Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus which takes place a year after Advent Children, will be released next year too...
I don't think this new game is a good idea... I am impatient to see Advent Children but this game...
The next FF is... FFXII! lol And square works already on FFXIII...

Re: final fantasy advent children
I think it's funny that we have two handhelds coming soon: The Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP. And Square has promised a game for the DS and a movie for the PSP. The DS is going to dominate...
This movie is being marketed solely towards FF7 fans. It's supposed to be pretty good, a lot better than The Spirits Within, but I can't say I'm that interested in it.
Dirge Of Cerberus... I'm getting bad vibes off of that. Square has already tried making a sequel to one of their games in Final Fantasy X-2, and it was a disaster. Now we're seeing FFVII-2, and it looks like the same thing might happen, which is a shame, as I'm a Vincent fan.
In any case, Square is not even close to the company they used to be in the early to mid 90s. They've had one good game in five years. I hope they get their act together.

Lucid Faia: I have to agree with you, I wasn't so impressed with Spririts Within or FF X-2.
I've heard small bits and pieces about FF VII Advent Children but not enough to make any conclusions. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out. I'm looking forward to Xenosaga Episode II more so than I am any more sequals in the FF series. But I do still like FF a lot.

Re: final fantasy advent children
I have alread seen it twice, and even though, I played the game twice, and helped some friends many times, I still don't get everthing. So it1s a cool movie.

Re: final fantasy advent children
I've seen the fansub, the OVA, and other things related to it. A friend of mine imported the ultimate Final Fantasy box set from liksang.com, which contains stuff like the Final Fantasy VII game International version, the DVD with a crapload of extras, a model of Cloud on his bike (he even made a sign saying "DO NOT TOUCH") and some other things that I can't remember.
Good movie, overall. Much better than that piece of shit called Spirits Within!

Somehow I still have an account...yay...?

I liked Spirit Within too, but that is not a Final Fantasy film! It was only a marketing try, but failed.

I have to say that I´m a big fan of all Final Fantasy games, especially for Final Fantasy VII
So I will try to see this movie soon.
And the Soundtrack is just amazing.
There is also a kickass Metal version of "One Winged Angel"

Re: final fantasy advent children
It's a shame that FF8 was so damn all-consuming with its story. It really left nothing open for adding on to, but I would have loved to see a sequel-movie to that. For some reason VII didn't take me in the way it did to everyone else, so I'm just not as stoked about Advent Children.

Re: final fantasy advent children
The movie is all action, thankfully. Outside the Midgar awesomeness at the beginning and end of the game, I hated the story from this game (and almost the game itself- the side quests save it for me). Square seems to have noticed where they went wrong with the game, and this time around went and confined the whole thing to Midgar, which is good. The story also managed to only center around the better characters, such as Cloud, Vincent, and the Turks. Also, Rufus (who is the awesomest villain in this game and not Sephiroth, like the rest of the crazy world wouldhave you believe), is ridiculously badass in this movie. The action scenes themselves make that shit from The Matrix, or Lord of the Rings look like those gay fashion shows in which everyone endlessly complains the pants they are wearing make their asses look too big, when in fact the thing is that their butt is just one of those which would give Sir Mix-A-Lot a hardon which could quite quickly become a deadly flail. Theyre just THAT action.... ful.

Are you sure about that? Even if Ultimacia is killed, she was killed only in the time compressed time, not in the future... so she is still alive!HvyMtlClickWitch wrote:It's a shame that FF8 was so damn all-consuming with its story. Re: final fantasy advent children
Oh god. I can't deal with this. The Ultimecia thing was just a little too magnitudinous for my tiny metal mind to completely grasp. However, I would have loved to see more development with Laguna and his little group of people.Beast_Pete wrote:Are you sure about that? Me too. My fav character was Laguna. Would have been cool to fight against Ultimecia with Laguna and his friends on my side.HvyMtlClickWitch wrote:However, I would have loved to see more development with Laguna and his little group of people.
