need help finding good symphonic metal

Post by rtype » Fri Jul 29, 2005 4:09 pm

does anyone know of any other good neo classical/epic/progressive bands? I already know and love the mainstays of this genre such as strato, nightwish, pagans mind, sonata arctica, rhapsody. I will however not settle for anything less than talent that matches these bands. I know its asking alot but, i need help finding this kind of music please.

Kamelot
Thunderstone

Not symphonic, though, but great power metal bands anyway.

Luca Turilli. I think it's even better than Rhapsody.

Edguy reminds lot of stratovarius, you should try that.

Adagio is one of my top symphonic metal bands. Also.. Nightwish (obvious), Epica (Goth metal, but quite symphonic), Cradle of Filth (Black metal, some might disagree with me here  ).

I named a couple that are very different from Strato, but nevertheless awesome bands with their very own style :)

If you insist on talent, and have an open mind, try Limbonic Art. VEEERY symphonic black metal. Their album 'Moon In The Scorpio' is a masterpiece. Atmospheric as hell..

Also, try Shadow Gallery. Not power metal. Think of Dream Theater, but better and more atmospheric.
