It's alright, really. A useful networking tool.

Plus, it now accounts for over 1% of all internet traffic globally. Not bad, eh.

I use it, I prefer it much more than myspace. I have noticed since facebooks become a lot more popular, myspace has been changing its look and style.

If my friends move themselves there from MySpace, then I consider opening a profile there. For me MySpace is enough at this moment.

there's (of course  ) some kind of copy of facebook in Germany/Europe. On the one hand it's funny and interesting, but there are also some things that always make me thing to quit it. Still, I have fun going there, so I'll just wait.

I had an account in Facebook for like 30 minutes. But somehow it didn't feel right. I quickly realised that this isn't what Internet was made for. Internet is about bashing other people with hidden identitys. The idea of using it with my real name just creeps me out.
I prefer 4chan.org. :P

Facebook is just a pathetic way to fill your social needs online with people you don't know and since it is easier to get to know them shy people or by otherways socially untalented people may find this a place to get a feeling like they really had some firends or that someone would actually care.

The truth is that is a fake feeling.
I am not using internet to market myself or anything thats part of me.
Only thing I am using this to spread is my own opinnions.

I have no need for myself to have any friends online.
Well I can't say I have any "real" friends IRL and try to guess why.

Its a breeding ground for narcissism.
That makes facebook a brothel, and YOU a prostitute! :umbrella: :facial:

You are entitled to your (retarded) opinion. Similarly, I could argue that you are one of those people who think they are cool by being outsiders who don't conform to society's rules. You really have no clue what you are talking about. It may not serve your purposes, but not everyone is in your situation. Let me give you a specific example: When I came to Canada eleven years ago I lost touch with some friends I had in Argentina. At that time, I had a very crappy dial-up internet connection and the people I knew in Argentina had no internet at all (the internet was just starting to become a global phenomenon), so staying in touch through e-mail, Skype, etc. was not a real option. Yes, there's the phone, but it's not quite the same in terms of possibilities and price (long distance calls are very expensive!). Last year, a friend from high school found me on facebook. We were happy to be able to somehow connect once again. His timing was perfect, because I was just about to go to Argentina during the summer. We met in Buenos Aires after not having seen each other for eleven years. Of course facebook can be a piece of crap if you want it to be and depending on how you use it, but then again, it can also be beneficial. If it weren't for facebook, I would not have been able to find some of my friends, as I didn't have their phones, e-mails, addresses, etc. The "pathetic excuse to fill your social needs" argument is the typical argument thought up by a five-year-old. It's really not impressive and overly simplistic. Having had the opportunity to meet with a friend was not a "fake feeling". And yes, you are using the internet to market yourself. In fact, you just did that. You say you don't want online friends. Still, if you are here just to spread your own opinions, then you are marketing yourself (your opinions tend to reflect the kind of person you are to some extent). Surely you are trying to catch people's attention. Surely that's a pathetic way to fill your emotional and narcissistic needs.

@ A10: What the fuck does narcissism have to do with being a prostitute? And in any case, what do you have against prostitutes?

EDIT:
@ mayhem: You sound like one of those people who are proud of not having real friends. Good for you. I still don't think you are a badass rebel with an attitude, but good for you.

I finally gave up and created a profile for myself some time ago. I totally agree with Stealth. I have rediscovered many of my old friends via this site and I find it to be the best way to keep up with my sister, who is currently studying in Sweden. :)

Janne Pellonpää, feel free to add me.

your (retarded) opinion
Actually I was going to add something like that since my post wasn't just about pissing people off.
who are proud of not having real friends. Good for you
Well I am and I am not.
The fact is I can't and I never have ahcieved anyones respect in any form with the exception of my parents.
If nobody cares about me I do not care about them.
And this doesn't mean that I would be a total outcast. I have no problem having a discussion with someone I know but the main point is the REAL friendship.

So if you think you have real friends I might just say you are really lucky.

that is a part of marketing.
I might use it as a way of spreading my personality but thats way different from spreading exactly who I am. I can't imagine myself getting on facebook for a dozen of reasons.
One of them being because in facebook it goes way too personal and I don't want to make it that way.

Actually you are right as I am not.
I'm actually a really soft guy.

Like for example when they say "real men don't cry"
Then I´guess I am not a real man but at leats I am man enough to admit it.
