smashing guitars on stage

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

hehe awesome. the keyman of symphony uses 3 keys right? i saw him here, was pretty cool.
but smashing keys or other instruments can never be the same like smashing guitars...thats kind of sacrificial act :D

If some stupid manager would shut the power up, while I'm playing, I would smash my guitar. But not to the floor, to the idiot's head. Eye for an eye.

Smashing your guitar is a sacrifice.......a sacrifice is when you by your own decision agree to loose what you love the most....in this case a guitar.....I think a guitar is an extension not only of the body but also the mind....and to smash it is to reach an extasis...to set free all the anger and rebellion in your blood....to show people that what you sing is what you really feel...

It is also really fun

BTW what's wrong with Kurt Cobain? ??? Ok...ok....he smashed some guitars...but to be honest he's one of the best composers i've ever heard....his songs were just too emotional....lyrics full of angst, full of anger, full of rebellion....he really represented the teen spirit....

He was also the guitar anti-hero  maybe that's why he smashed his guitars.....he just couldn't play like he wanted.....but hey....he really kicked ass

Timo may have smashed his guitar because he was drunk...I am definitely against smashing good instruments. My friend who is in a band has a guitar especially for throwing around on stage. It's pretty cool!

I might smash myself, but no instruments on stage. Everytime i see someone smashing an instrument, it hurts inside. I would have used that smashed guitar till the bitter end.
I haven't killed him yet sir,
But when I do, I shall have the stomach and the liver too,
And the floppily doppilies in their horrid glue.

slowly dying like a fire in a pouring rain.
No sparks of hope inside,

Smashing instruments is fine with me. I still wish they would give me their guitars instead of smashing them.

That time TT smashed his guitar on stage he was just angry about the way the Band was treated. He said afterwards it was fun, but I think he just understandably lost his cool that day! ;)
Better a smashed guitar than someone's head, right! :)

Boy-85 wrote:Tolkki once did smash his guitar, but that's different. I dont't remember if it was in Milan's Gods Of Metal- festival or somewhere else, but it went like this: Stratovarius was the last band to play on that evening, and the band before them played longer than scheduled. So Stratovarius's set delayed. And halfway during the last song, the show organizer shut the power, and Tolkki instantly smashed his guitar to the floor, and the crowd booed to the organizer.
It was the Visions -art guitar..
