Jens' best song (stratovarius only)

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

Jens' best song (stratovarius only)

Post by stratoplayer » Tue Mar 15, 2005 11:56 pm

which do you think is the song that best displays his skills/ talent whatever????
i think between holy light, kiss of judas (visions of europe), or learning to fly
Close your eyes and try to remember, destroyed lullabies of days gone by
Close your eyes on the edge of forever, a chance to dream fast asleep your nightmare ends

Elements. No doubt about it. It's got so much feeling in it, as well as being a display of incredible technique over a strange chord progression. His absolute best Stratovarius solo IMO

on Sonata Arctica's stuff he plays great solos, Victoria's Secret for ex. is absolutely outstanding.

But Hooded Strangers is great too

Disagree. In terms of speed it has to be either I'm Still Alive, Babylon or Glory Of The World. Maybe Freedom as well...

In Twilight symphony on visions of Europe album there is a small "solo" made by Jens and Timo...difficult with guitar...much more difficult with keyboad...but it's simply perfect...

Hooded strangers is from Jens's work, not a Strato song.

Check out album like, Heavy Machinerie or Fission....not power metal but fiuuuuu impressive....fusion/rock in my opinion. And an impressive Jens.

It's funny, I did all of those solos (elements 1 and 2) in something like half a day. I remember I was happy with most of them.. I spent like a month and a half playing on this slightly heavier controller, so my fingers got used to that. Then for the solos I used Tolkki's "Yamaha EX-7" controller. Playing that felt like cutting butter with a hot knife somehow! Good trick I think. I'm not sure, but I think all the solos were one of the last things I did on the E1/2 records. I was a bit hung over, just perfect amount of melancholy hangover, and it was in the Hotelli Helka.. so, for best keyboard solos, make sure your fingers are used to heavier keys, drink a bunch, check into the Helka, borrow Tolkki's EX-7, and just hit record!!
Jens.

Actually, I do find Why are we here? to be Jens greatest work. It may not be a "I got 20 fingers" song, but it is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
Blah!

Jens rules in Ride Like The Wind!

I think it's his best song, he composed!
Some might say we are cold
Don't believe all that's been told
Our hearts are made of gold
In the land of ice and snow

I think that the best song of Jens is Why Are We Here :)

EDIT: So that is his OWN song, but the best solo isn't so easy...

My favorite Jens solos are on Yngwie's Odyssey. It always gives me this tremendous feeling inside. Krakatoa is amazing.

As for Elements, the song Elements has an awesome solo.

I enjoy all his solos. I wish I could play keyboard! I'll just stick with guitar.

Krakatoa is amazing as well.. its a very 'Stratovarius' sounding song actually! especially the slower part when the acoustic chords come in...

I wish i could play keyboard really well too! I play some basic keyboard/piano as part of my music course at university, but that's about it.

I'll stick to bass :D
