It usually would be seen as copyright infringment, unless due credit was given (and agreed for use by the owner of the copyright, you'd need their permission).

If it sounds different enough to not warrant such things, people would still probably call you a copycat :D

Try and come up with your own stuff!
Yep, I'll walk to my own song  just wondered because it's cool sound.

Now again I'm sure I will do this...

...you ask why...

...Samuli Putro's mother told me to (continue writting lyrics).

Edit: ByTheWay Does anyone have any idea which would be a good way of writing up good sounds I invent, should I study notes? or should I buy a MP3 with recording abilities and whistle thoughts there?

Spending some years in a basement studying theory is probably the best way to go. :D If that's not possible you could ask for help from someone who knows and lives near you I guess.

I'll try it out if I get a new one to replace current one...it's on a bad condition.

Not my band, but a younger death metal band called Dementor from Cyprus. Pretty good stuff! Good solos from the guitarists.

Do you need original artist's permission when making covers?

You need the permission of whoever owns the copyright. In most cases, that will be the record company or publishing company.

Ok then.

Bear in mind, you need the permission of the copyright holder when you are recording the cover and releasing it, or using part of someone else's song in your music. You don't need permission if you are playing the cover at a live venue that will not be recorded, as the venue's license to play music to the public includes live performances of copyrighted music. That's how it works in most countries, anyway.

I wonder how much stuff i need to do if I want to cover something like System Of A Down or Linkinpark (no in general I hate Lp, but I like their "breaking the habit" song)

Well, emailing the record company for some info is a start. They can point you in the right direction.

Bear in mind, they will probably want money if you make profit from this. If not maybe you can get away with it.

Could it be too radical decision to name album with only numbers, I think I'll do that sometime, but on first album?
Translation code I'm going to use:
A - 0
B - 1
C - 2
D - 3
E - 4
F - 5
G - 6
H - 7
I - 8
J - 9
K - 0
L - 1
M - 2
N - 3
O - 4
P - 5
Q - 6
R - 7
S - 8
T - 9
U - 0
V - 1
W - 2
X - 3
Y - 4
Z - 5
Å - 6 (really not going to use it but...)
Ä - 7
Ö - 8
Anything else - 9

marks such as + - , . () [] or & are not changed as they work on both numbers and senteces.

30703488 033 18679

Translate that :D

I was wondering if this topic was already open, and, here it is!
Months ago i told you about my band, and our first demo, well finally we've released it, and it will be just great if some of you could tell his opinion about us.
Actually we are trying to promote our material...

Check us out at:

Since we're sharing links, I thought I might as well post the link to my band 'into the arena'.
This is 'Rising Force' from you know who...
Please try to look through the crappy vid-quality. Our sound was completely ruined by the sound engineer. My monitor did hardly function...
Anyway, have fun!

By the way, your band sounds pretty cool Neon!

Thanks, we've recently been signed to LMP records in Germany and we're heading over there in November to record our first album, keep an eye out on this forum for any updates (as they're usually the first to know :D)

Not a bad performance but yeah the sound was pretty crappy and a monitor failing is possibly the worst thing to happen... if the guitar totally cuts out the audience will instantly know something is wrong, while if you keep playing out of key because you can'y hear what you're doing, the audience will think you just suck  Still, pretty good considering!

So things start to look good for you guys then? Cool!
Do keep us informed.
Yeah about the performance... realise this was our very first gig (and still is to this day). The guitarplayer is actually the reason I joined the band. He is VERY good. He has been touring with Lana Lane and Erik Norlander amongst others, if any of those ring a bell :)

I have just finished lyrics for two new songs, they are called "the ace" and...the other title I can't remember right now...
The first one is like the name shows about a poker game (well atleast straightly looked at, you can find much other deeper stuff from it too), and the second one is kind of basical "have faith" song, and they work pretty well too, althrough the secon one is maybe little too Unia alike for my speedy music taste...while the ace is going to be either something like "false messiah" or "In black and white" but propably I'll get something else for it...

Heheh some strange news of my own, I don't know what made me tell that, cause I've made tons of songs before that.

I quess one of my albums is going to be called "nostalgy and anger" too, if it really will be then there really propably will be a song with same name which would be instrumental...yees and at the side of that I was thinking of making two songs called "coldness" and "heat", heat having a fast&simple bass intro and coldness having slow but more complicated bass intro.

:D

Alright! already 77 songs written, with really many different themes, many different lenghts and forms and styles and such. I think I really am an ace at writing lyrics, on top of all, I love doing it!

Also my bass playing is going on nicely too, I don't think I'll be able to sing at the same time but atleast I can do either! I quess I'll leave singing when I find someone to do it for me...but I'll propably sing the backing vocals (?) there.

I talked with my friend (the quitarist) and he said that he liked my lyrics and almost all stuff I had come up with, also I think the name of our band will be..............................Synchro Zenith, but we still need to discuss it with other members when we get some, before that it will be just Revolt.

First cover we are going to play is The trooper, if we record it I'll put a link for you :)
