No-metal bands.

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

i love oldies, especially the 50s. Doo wop is also one of my favorite genres. 60s psychadelic rock, as well as any 40s-60s pop music, also. my opinion states that one of the greatest bands of all time is Chicago.

i like big band and swing a lot, Lionel Hampton is my favorite band leader. Glenn Miller was undisputedly great, as well as the king of swing, benny goodman. gene krupa was an interesting bandleader.

my favorite ska band is five iron frenzy. there aren't a lot of good ska bands, though, although ska reigns supreme as a people-friendly genre.

i like some jazz, not so much modern stuff. more like dave brubeck, stan kenton.

and i fucking love hip hop. but unfortunately, the industry sucks so bad these days that you can't just go around saying that to people.... the treacherous three were great, my favourite DJ is Peanut Butter Wolf.

and i'm huge on punk. the dead kennedys were the greatest. and even though the ramones were ugly people, they were a great band. Value Pac is great too.

i like some prog rock, like King Crimson, Tea Party.

i'm starting to get into south- and central-american folk music. i'm also newly fascinated with bhangra. there's a bhangra dance club in my area i'm prone to frequenting.

and there's some import genre-bending bands i really enjoy, like LoJo and Nina Hagen and Manu Chao.

and some domestic genre-bending bands like Spearhead and Lords of Acid.

I listen alot to electronic music - EBM, industrial, synth-pop and such, bands like VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, Wumpscut, Funker Vogt, Project Pitchfork. As I think of it now, I listen to this kind of music more than to metal ...

There's a no-metal band I like very much, it's a swedish punk-band named Millencolin. Just go to their website and check ou their lyrics, they are sometimes very strto-ish, especially the album Pennybridge Pioneers.

Other than metal i'm into ska (especialy 2nd wave), reggae, and ofcourse the classics (Floyd, Zep, Halen, ect.)
Rush is likely my favourite band but its hard to put them into a category other than just generaly prog.
I dont mind the older rap but this "gangsta rap" does nothing for me.
Techno all sounds the same to me.
