Latest haul reloaded

List your latest album purchases here, why don't ya. Comments would also be appreciated, otherwise it'll be dangerously close to spamming.

Evergrey - The Inner Circle (ltd)
I absolutely love this album. Of the three albums I have with Evergrey (the other two being "In Search of Truth" and "Recreation Day" ), this one is my favourite. Great prog/power/melodic/whatever metal.

U.D.O - Thunderball (ltd)
Meh. Same old stuff Mr. Dirkschneider has been doing for the past...well, for most of his career, really. For the diehards only. Me? Consider me a former diehard...

Chris Rea - Shamrock Diaries
Oh the humanity, a non-metal album purchase! I happen to like Chris Rea though, thank you very much. Very relaxing music, and his slide guitar is absolutely great. Highly recommended album if you're into soft rock.

Ministry - Houses Of The Mole
A kickass album from the legends of industrial metal, the best one since Psalm 69. Heavy, fast and angry ...
Slipknot - Vol.3: The Subliminal Verses
Great album, I like it alot. It's more metal than previous albums and it even has some calm songs ...
VNV Nation - Praise The Fallen
Great album from a great band. Recommended to everyone with a love to electronic music and smart lyrics ...

To me this is a good album. I like what the songs focus on lyric wise and once again it's heavy enough to keep me listening.

My latest haul would be a demo by an Egyptian band named Odious (www.odious.8k.com).

They play "Oriental Black Metal" or something like that, it's not bad but I'm not too much into black metal.

I have also ordered Nightwish - Once but it hasn't arrived yet.

I'll stick to the last two, it would be quite a list if I posted all I've bought since the last time I was here.

Evergrey - In Search Of Truth
Very good progressive album, I think it's even better than their latest effort, The Inner Circle

Ayreon - The Human Equation
First Ayreon cd I bought, and there are definatly more gonna follow, I think that says enough :)

Karmakanic - Wheel of Life
Progressive metal "supergroup" featuring Jonas Reingold and supervocalist Göran Edman. It's pretty much on par with their great debut album, "Entering the Spectra".

I'm anxiously awaiting Threshold's new album, which I'm hoping will arrive in the mail soon!

Strato - E1, E2 and Eagleheart Single (limited edition shaped cd)

I had downloaded E1 for ages, but now I had enough money to buy them, so I did :p. E2 wasn't at all as great as I expected, but still very good.

Symphony X - The Divine Wings Of Tragedy

great band and great album. My fav is certainly The Accoade

SyX is a great band. My favourite albums of theirs are definitely TDWoT and "Twilight in Olympus".

Nightwish - Once (Ltd. Ed.)

Well, I didn't actually buy it myself, my girlfriend bought it to me during her trip in France. It's not their best album (all hail Oceanborn and Wishmaster) but it has its moments. Planet Hell, Dark Chest of Wonders and Nemo are great songs. Ghost Love Score kicks ass! :P

Since he hasn't posted here, seems like I got Subsurface before that n00b Nordic. 8) Kickass album, although it needs to grow before it tops Hypo or CM...

Finally a package arrived. I was waiting for 3 weeks

Borknagar - Epic
Great CD, listening to it right now...

Amon Amarth - The Crusher
Yeah well, any surpises? Hell no! Image

Opeth - Morningrise

Opeth - Blackwater Park
No comment. Great albums and i should have bought them long ago 8)

Nebular Moon - Of Dreams And Magic...
Dont know this band, but it was 3€ and has a nice cover, so...

EDIT: They sound like a weak version of Graveworm, not bad, but i think i prefer the original... well, 3€, so .. ;)

and two days ago i bought Dream Theater - Awake which is really a great album, from what i can say by now.
EDIT: I can repeat myself to underline it. Great Album ;)

I could not agree more.
I love Nightwish, really, but Once isn't that kind of masterpiece I read about in other places and in reviews. It's a very good album though, no boudt about that, it's just not their best.

new drugs:

Amon Amarth - Fate Of The Norns

I did not really like it in the beginning, as i thought it was too slow, but after listening to it for.. quite much time, i have to say i really like it, as the slower songs perfectly fit the dark/sad atmosphere and lyrics and there are really some great melodies on this album. Although i wouldnt necessarily call it Melodic Death anymore.... cant reach Vs. The World though.

Ayreon -Universal Migrator Pt.1 & 2

I didnt know this band until now, just one or two songs from the internet, but i have to say that this 2 records are really great, especially the first part... have to listen to Pink Floyd again 8)

Edguy - hellfie club

cracking album, the songs seem to fade a bit towrads te end of the album and and I find myself forgetting how they sound, but the first 5 or 6 are truly great.

Threshold - critical mass

Absolutely briliant!! Progressive metal that shits all over DT in my opinion. I only bought Critical mass for the sake of one tracl - falling away, but its fast becoming one of my favourite albums of all time!!

Dream Theater - Images And Words, Awake and Metropolis Part II

This is all outstanding, and Mike Portnoy is the God of drums.

Symphony X - Twilight In Olympus

Great too, I prefered TDWoT, though...

Strato - I Walk To My Own Song

This version of Black Diamond live rocks hard

Timo Tolkki - Hymn To Life

I had downloaded it for ages too, but I never found it anywhere. Now I finally have it in my CD-wallet :D Of course it's awesome.

I just bought a random lot of seven cds on ebay. They described the music and i thought it sounded okay, and it was cheap. it included the albums:

Anvil "Uncreative Cover Art"

Steel Attack "Taking Band Photos With Swords Is Cool"

Kenziner "No It Doesn't Sound Like Manowar"

Sacred Steel "Guitars Make D&D Nerds Look Tough" and "I Want To Cast Magic Missile!!"

Squealer "The Same Album Name As Everyone Else"

Insania "Another Scandinavian Melodic Metal Band"

Actually, even though i'm teasing, it's a pretty cool collection. But it's making me have this strange urge to dig up my Vampire the Masquerade book....

Chris Rea - Water Sign
Chris Rea - s/t
Chris Rea - Wired to the Moon

In case you were wondering...yes, I like Chris Rea!

Pain of Salvation - Be
I was terribly unimpressed after the first listen, but I'll give it a few more listenings before I make my final comments. PoS is one of my all-time favourite bands and all their other albums are top-notch, so give me some time and I'll probably like this one as well.

Rammstein - Reise, Reise
Hey, it's Rammstein. Solid stuff as usual. "Mein Teil" kicks butt.

Rammstein - Reise, Reise

As said before, this is Rammstein. If you don't like Rammstein...

Strato - Visions Of Europe

Another StratoCD (actually two :D) in my CD-wallet :)

I like Rammstein quite a bit too. As for as my latest hauls:

Lamb of God Ashes of the Wake
Very heavy, but I like it a lot. The guy who I purchased the CD from in the store said it was more melodic than their other CD's, I think it is in a small way but I love the CD.

Lacuna Coil Comalies
It's very good music and I was impressed by them. I've never listened to them much so I decided to buy this CD, it's a pretty good CD. I like it.

Avenged Sevenfold Waking the Fallen
Very different. I'd never heard of these guys before but I saw the CD on the shelf in the metal section and listened to some samples and decided to take a chance and buy the CD. It's pretty good, I was impressed. Not the best I've ever heard but it's good.

Queen Greatest Hits
Well it had Bohemian Rhapsody on it and I absolutley love the song and the entire CD is great too.

Guns-N-Roses Greatest hits
The CD had all the songs I love on it, so the CD is great.

Just got some classics:

Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny (the only JP album I was missing with Halford on vox)

Rage - Perfect Man (re-issue) (one of their best!)

Overkill - Feel the Fire (awesome first album by this thrash legend)
Is the metal dead?
I don't think so

Dream Theater - A Change Of Seasons

A wonderful 23-minutes epic titletrack and some covers of woderful bands (Pink Floyd, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Kansas, Genesis...). That make a wonderful album :D (7€ :D)

Locked
