The Frey's are nothing but a bunch of damned rednecks. :x Literally.

Talisa died. Or did she?

At least Cat got some payback by killing Walder Frey's jailbait wife---I actually liked that twist better than the one in the book--it had a hell of a lot more impact. It also showed just how heartless, and cruel old Lord Frey is. He didn't even give a shit his wife was killed. He's nothing but a damned dirty 'ol man anyway. :x
One more thing: Roose Bolton is a true asshole. :x

@KMasters, you really should read the books, they are really good. :bigok:

And so, Roosening: The Roosegeddon is finally over.

Seven Hells, I read the books (albeit only after the TV-show started) and I knew what would happen, but damn, my body wasn't ready...

They did it better than I could've hoped for.

Shit...

Damn...

I need a drink...

This tragedy was not just the slaughter of 3 members of a family. This event more or less meant that all hope was lost for The North to regain its importance or supremency which it had in decades past. Robb was the North's best hope, and now he was gone.

Who is left in the running now to sit the Iron Throne? Dany, Stannis, the Lannisters to a smaller degree, and I don't think the Greyjoy's are that big a threat. I guess we will leave that answer to GRRM!

I like the Starks. They are good and decent people, which is their undoing, unfortunately. Robb thought with his heart instead of his brain. He fell in love with a pretty, sweet, kind, hardworking girl who was the equilvalent of himself, and married her, which in other circumstances would have been the right thing to do. Robb did not think the Freys would be that angry over a "broken vow". Well, poor Robb did not realize that the Frey's lived by an Appalachian/hillbilly "code of honor" which they took very seriously, and very personally.
So, when the Lannister's got wind of Robb's intention to invade Casterly Rock, Tywin and the Frey's(I guess Robb forgot that Tywin's sister married a Frey)came up with an intricate plot to do away with King Robb forever.
Robb was made a fool out of before the RW even took place during Edmure's wedding. When it was revealed that Roslyn Frey was a pretty, delicate girl instead of the other fat, plain Frey girls, Walder gave Robb a look which said, "this is what YOU could have had!" In other words, Walder was going to give sweet, pretty Roslyn to Robb if he had fulfilled his vow.
Robb simply failed to look at the bigger picture. The bigger picture is that in the Westeros world politics trumps love and kindness. How you play the game means whether you win or lose, or more importantly, if you live or die. Ned Stark learned this lesson, Ros the whore/madam learned the lesson, Theon learned, Tyrion and Sansa learned as well, and so will Jorah, Lysa, and even evil King Joffrey will learn that the game of thrones is not a bed of roses, no fairy tale, no dream world to play in. But.....that's another story.........

[SPOILERS]

"My father won the real war. He killed Prince Rhaegar, he took the crown, while you hid on the Casterly Rock!"

Image

This marks the first time ever (in books or in show) I wanted to applaud Joffrey.
browneyedgirl wrote:After seeing that image of RobbWind I need a few of these. :shud:
That really turned my stomach. It looked really grotesque, way worse than I expected. :nervous:

I'm sort of surprised (and disappointed) there was no Lady Stoneheart scene. Surely the news about Michelle Fairley still shooting scenes for future episodes will get out..? Or will people just expect she's there for flashbacks/Bran's dreams? In any case, I thought it would've made for a perfect ending, to have Beric / BwB fish Catelyn's lifeless body out of the river and have the last shot of season be Catelyn opening her eyes with Beric leaning over her.
Oh yeah, and I really really liked the scene with Balon, Yara (Asha) and Theon's favourite toy.
The team Dragonstone scene I hated; the showrunners are making Stannis way too much of a dick and downplay the bromance between him and Davos. Them coming to conclusion to head north was rushed and it should've been less Melly just blandly stating:
"The true war lies to the North"
and more like something that would later make Stannis claim:
"Lord Seaworth is a man of humble birth, but he reminded me of my duty, when all I could think of was my rights. I had the cart before the horse, Davos said. I was trying to win the throne to save the kingdom, when I should have been trying to save the kingdom to win the throne."

GRRM has been doing quite a few interviews for both print, and TV. Very interesting stuff. It seems many of the characters and elements in ASOIAF are loosely based on true historical events in medieval history. For example, the Red Wedding was based on two separate events in Scottish history in the 14th century, one of which was about a feud between two clans, the other about a king who was hated.

The character of Dany also has roots in history about 200AD in an Egyptian-Greek queen named Zenobia who became queen of an enormous nomadic tribe after her husbands death. Zenobia was described as beautiful, very intelligent, and was quite athletic, and cunning especially in matters of politics and war strategy. If GOT does go the way of Queen Zenobia's history to what happens to Dany...........Oh, nevermind. ;)
Oh, the name Daenerys means "shining lady" in ancient Gaelic, so I guess GRRM thought everything out in terms of his characters because Dany is a shining lady, indeed!

It's Arya, and she is gorgeous. Maisie Williams is the actress. She would be a cool one to play Lyanna in a few years. What is she, about 12 now. She is developing very fast. If she continues to grow more beautiful maybe she is the queen that........Nevermind. ;)

'Game of Thrones' casts major season 4 role: Oberyn the Red Viper

http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/06/28/thron ... er-oberyn/

He's a lot, uh, whiter than I thought Red Viper would be. Anyway I wish him luck, Oberyn is definitely one of my favourite characters in the saga.

You beat me to it!!!!Now can we get Joe Mantegna or Danny Trejo to play Doran? Seriously. I guess they are going Latino for the Dornish, I thought they might lean toward Middle Easterners. I have seen Pedro in various shows, and i think he will be fine. Just let him grow his hair, and a beard and he will be great! :bigok: There are lots of beautiful Latino actresses to play the Dornish ladies characters, so this is a good move, I think.

Now that Oberyn is cast, I'm most interested in who they'll cast as Arianne. Might be she won't be introduced until season 5 though. If we even get season 5 that is. :P

I think HBO has already approved two more seasons(4&5), so we will get AFFC&ADWD at least. I think they will go the whole book series, but there has been talk of doing a prequel if GRRM does not catch up with the books. I hope all that is true.
As for actresses, Eva Longoria would be cool but she's old enough to play Elaria Sand, and there is Salam Hayek who could play Elaria, too. As for Arianne, they need to find a really hot-looking lady who is also a talented actress.

It's nice, I like the singer, but dislike the tempo change on the pre-chorus.

Another song (doesn't let me post a thumbnail that works on Stratoforum), I knew these parodies were coming, but this is the best one I've heard yet:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e01yNFZY4U&

..Even if they refer to Walder Frey as a "Ser" and not "Lord".

I found this pic, and many more, on a dreamcasting site. Someone has a big, and somewhat cool, imagination. Simon Baker as Kevan Lannister? Well, he could pass for being a Lannister but, a little too young in my opinion as Kevan. Some people some years ago suggested Simon might be good as Jaime. In my opinion, I don't think so but you never know!

Image

 Image

Another dreamcast: Bridget Regan as Dacey Mormont which is a very good dreamcast. Too bad they axed the character out of the show(as opposed to axed IN the show). You have to read the book the get the pun.

A Mark Gatiss has been cast for GOT, but so far it has not been released WHO he will play. Probably, Mace or some royal Dany meets up with on her journeys. I think its only for a couple episodes, so my guess is maybe Mace. Mark is reported to be a good actor with a respectable resume so I am sure he will do a great job no matter who he portrays.

Indira Varma has been cast as Ellaria Sand, the Red Viper's girlfriend. Actually, they are more serious than that being as they have 4 daughters together! Anyway, IMHO, this was great casting. I have seen this lady on TV and she is a good actress and attractive, so she should do great in the role of Ellaria. Ellaria is supposedly very sexy and alluring so I am curious as to how this is going to work! I think in the book it said Ellaria was the only woman who Cersei was seriously jealous of in terms of looks and personality, and charm. Catfight down the road? lol

I just hope people don't start criticizing and judging her the way they did Pedro. For pete's sake, give these people a chance to show what they can do before they get hacked. So far, most people seem to be satisfied with Indira. :)

Its not too far-fetched an idea. Kim is somewhat like Arianne, beautiful but kinda dumb, always messing up and making wrong decisions. But, can Kim act?

Well, Kim is not that dumb, after all she is very wealthy!

Sophie Turner adopted Lady, the direwolf her character Sansa had as a pet on Game of Thrones.Isn't Lady a beautiful dog?

Christine Baranski has said she would like to be in the Game of Thrones. I know of two characters she'd be great to play: Alannys Harlaw Greyjoy, the widow of Lord Balon Greyjoy and the Mother to Asha and Theon.
Also, Genna Lannister Frey, Tywin and Kevan Lannister's sister. I think she could do justice to both these characters.

There are other stars who want to be in GOT. Kristen Stewart(who I picture as Mya Stone, or the young widow, Myranda Royce, both of the Vale), Ron Perlman, who would be an exceptionally fine addition to GOT!(I can see Ron playing Capt. Rodrick Harlaw, or maybe the viking-like Victarion Grejoy, or even Jon Connington. Christina Hendricks, who with her trademark fiery-red hair could pass for a sister of Melisandre, or Ygritte, or the redhead outlaw Asha runs into on her journey. Charlize Theron has said she'd like to give GOT a try, and as sexy as Charlize is I can think of one she would fit: Taena of Myr who was hot, to say the least.

I'd like to see Jeremy Irons or Colm Feore in GOT now that The Borgias has ended, and some of the actors of Legend of the Seeker, and Spartacus, too.
