Very talented guy, but a bit shy. Know him through a guitar player friend of mine who studies there and suggested him.
His story seems to check out very well.
Maybe Jens found out something? ;)
Timo twists the truth from time to time, he leaves out some info and maybe exaggerates other stuff at worst, but I can't recall a time when he's just flat out lied about something.
Oh, I could say so much. ;) Maybe you cannot recall, but there are other people in the world. What you just said is what whats-his-name said about Richard Nixon before The Pentagon Papers reared their ass. ;) When something is written down, it gives things a whole new meaning.
Yeah, that's true, but what I'm saying, is aside from one mental breakdown in 2004, Timo Tolkki has never entered a fantasy style fabrication like lie. He's twisted stuff to no end, but he's never done stuff like inventing band members for no apparent reason.

(At least, I think not, I don't know if Miss K was real or not)

Yes yes must never forget, what tolkki does could do anything from destroying the world to giving unfair and illegal political advantages. His actions cause a loss of life and trample on the lives of others and their freedom to pursue their interests. He beats puppies with kittens and eats babies. He is inhuman and only has the capabilities to produce evil. While others have ups and downs, positives and negatives, stress releasers and stress producers, good times and bad times, mistakes and successes, gains and loses, multiple dimensions, tolkki only is capable of one dimensional darkness.

Alright well I heard the demo and IMO it really isn't that much better than the actual RR album. I agree that TK sounded like not in the mood for singing, but could you blame him?... the songs are nothing special. Last Night On Earth and Revolution Renassaince are good tho, but as much as I love TK's voice they sound 10 times better with Kiske...

with even a quick run through a signer should be able to do a better job of hitting the notes than kotipelto does

I gather you are not too fond of Kotipelto's singing?

Why do you say that? What makes you think or say he was not professional while singing those songs?
In my opinion there are good and bad songs

But, after all, it was a demo, so probably it was not as perfect as it should have been, of course. However, the majority of posts I've read all over in internet, in many forums, people said the demos are really terrific&a majority said the Demos were better than the RR recordings. These are people who are not hardcore Stratovarius fans, so there was no bias involved.

I’m just saying that it’s more of a demo or live performance than what would be used as the final take on a cd or what would qualify for a prestigious opera or Broadway.

We have to take into account that those demos were not the final versions. They are just what they are, demos. Maybe they were recorded, played or sung in a hurry, we don't really know, and honestly LNOE seems to be recorded with a mobile phone  Am I the only one who has this impression? Furthermore the lyrics are not the same. Before listening to them I thought they were going to be catastrophic because of what TT said, but once I listened to them I didn't find them as catastrophic as they were supposed to be.
I love mainly heroes and we are magic Strato demos.
To judge fairly these demos if they are good or not we should compare them with the RR demos.

Well, then, based on that logic---if StratoDmos&RR Demos are compared: StratoDemos will blow the RR Demos into the dust, and the wind! ;)

First we should have to listen to the RR demos
I am happy this was not a Strato album, in my opinion it has very little to do with their style, and the songs are too short. Despite all this of course I like the album and the singers are amazing too.

Unformed band? LOL! The RR Demos referred to are the ones which created the New Era album. Thats where the StratoDemos were added. We have not heard the New Era Demos.

Biased? Oh, that is sooooooooo bad.
And, I'm not any more biased than people who already made up their mind that unformed RR is a good band.

Maybe you all should read other forums and what people on them have to say instead of being obsessed with what people on this one have to say.

There are Stratovarius fans who do not post here any longer because they are afraid if they speak the truth and their opinion about how they feel about TT&RR they will be met with bashings and stuff from the biased Tolkki defenders. So, they choose not to post here at all. Pity. Fans of a band who cannot post at their own forum out of fear of being bashed, or muted.
But, there are many ways&better ways of communication which are more reliable and widspread. So, you RR Forum affiliated people continue your little flames&name-calling. It won't do any good because you have been called on it a long time ago.

I assumed you were talking about all the demos that stratovarius has created vs. any demo that is created by RR. The New Era demos are done by stratovarius in 2006. Not having heard what the new band will sound like I have not made up an opinion

Are you saying Kiske, Sammett&Pasi did not make any Demos? ??? How unprofessional. I thought all music starts out as a demo, so the producers can get a rough idea how it is going to sound before its recorded.

Well tolkki said they just sent him in takes. Tolkki also said that he was not the producer in the studio with the singers and that he did not use some of the takes sent to him. He did not say that he had everyone send in some takes, finalize, then send in more takes. Are we going to count every take not used in the final cd as a demo? What tolkki gave the record company tolkki said was the stratovarius demo. If we compare vocal demos then I’m sure kiske performed a better quality demo than kotipelto. I like kotipeltos voice a whole lot more but kiske does better technically. From the live stuff I have of kotipelto, kiske and Tobias, while kotipelto is my favorite out of them, he would not score the highest vocal score in a music college ort vocal technique competition out of the three.

Are you sure about that, or is that just your opinion? Because Kotipelto took University courses in voice for several years, and I'm sure he did very well! :D

im sure he did well too. but i think kiske could get higher scores. in a little hypothetical music school. i don't even care about what score they would get anyways since hands down i prefere kotpelto. but in a quality debate of who would be picked for more musical performances, i think kiske would be picked for a lot more roles than kotipelto.

Probably what icecab means is that while Kotipelto has a great voice, Kiske has a better techique... I think TK's high notes sound a bit more forced than Kiske's, if that makes sense.

Kiske has a more versatile voice than TK, but again we are talking and discussing the same issue. Who is a better singer is a matter of opinion. This is very relative, and although I DO prefere TK's voice, having taken some vocal courses or whatever doesn't make him a better singer. If he is or not, it won't be because of that :D

Now beg said quality, for quality there needs to be standard measurements. I’m just having fun with this since I don’t think singers should be compared like AKC registered dogs to the set ideal of technique and form or that anyone else’s opinion should determine about how each of us views music. I don’t care if I million people like what I like or if I’m the only one. It can bug me when people bring up some coalition of people that don’t like some art. It bugs me that that bugs me though as well.

Well kiske can sing Pop, I think that's versatile...
Wouldn't like to find out if Koti can...

I have never understood the definition of pop. When I look it up it just says any music geared towards melody, harmony and, selling to a wide target audience. If we are talking about softer music or folk music kotipelto sings his share too.

in my opinion pop is music that caters to the pampered crowd, working class like myself don't relate to it at all

once again just my opinion

honest question here. So what has kiske done just for money? How does just for money sound musically and vocally? By that definition kotipelto has done some pop music singing. But maybe tolkki is wrong as a band member and producer when he says that kotipelto did not always put the correct emotions into the performances or was not always deeply passionate about the music and lyrics. There are so many grey areas to me here. I always hear these deeply emotional songs and ballads being called pop songs and I don’t understand.

That automatically makes metal heart oriented music? =) I always liked when such naive declarations from so called non-mainstream music listeners. Ufortunately, metal is mainstream.

Mainstream? really? certainly I don't know europe but to call metal "Mainstream" in America (The continent) it's kind of... wrong... and by the way naiveness is nice! it takes the pain away... :D

(Some misrepresentation coming up so just have fun with it lol)

I have a hard time believing that anyone’s ultimate goal would just be to collect currency as an ends. I have never heard of someone doing something without passion just for the sake of doing it without heart as an ends. To me that takes a maso passion so it’s still a higher goal than just the currency. To me money is a resource to be traded for another resource. One value traded for another value. Let’s take the song girls just want to have fun. Cindy just wanted to have fun, that’s all she really wanted, when the working day is done. im sure fun was part of the writer's goal as well. have yet to hear someone say "i'm having fun but my heart is not in this fun having". now if she is not having fun singing it, but sings it because she wants to have fun, that does not make it simply money oriented to me.
