I think it's worse if the sound is reverse were all normal tracks are ballad and 1 or 2 fast paced or double pedal tracks

I guess we will have to wait and see. Just preordered my single and album....now what we need is some album samples or something.

Rebel wrote:"Balanced" is extremely overrated in power metal. Having heard a LOT of the genre, there are a ton of great metal albums without ballads, and a ton of bands, Rhapsody of Fire is another one, that insists on releasing absolutely awful sounding ballads. It just boggles the mind.

If you want to know why I say we don't need balance, hear "A Flame to the Ground Beneath" by Lost Horizon.

I do agree about the mid-tempo stuff, this is a much more effective way to play to Kotipelto's strengths and break up fast songs on an album, than completely forgettable ballads.
agree, there was like one ballad per album rule back in tolkki days so to speak, I dont mind 2 o 3 ballads in one album but its all a matter of taste, also it depends of the genre the ballad is made, like rebel said, the rhapsody ones are awful, savatage ones?...beautiful!

The problem is that we all have very different definitions of what that means.

What if Nemesis happens to have the two best ballads you've heard in your life?

If they didn't make them, you could never know.
Skylark might release the best power metal album in history, but I promise you I will never hear it, because they've been far too bad for far too long for me to take them seriously if they were to try. Eventually you've gotta realize that bands stay generally consistent in their quality. Especially late in their career, Stratovarius releases great fast and mid-tempo material, and can usually get away with a single ballad per album, more than that has always been too much for me.

also, I imagine that the songlengths and songwriting credits can't be too far off, the album is in the hands of the promotional agency and should be to the press within a few days. Can't wait to hear it and write my review.

Guess not. I'm supposed to be getting access later today. I'll fill you guys in on my best guess as to who wrote what songs. That should be fun.

Some one asked weeks before about the possible meaning of title "Halcyon Days", I searched a bit and I think that is all about the greek myth of Alcyone, perhaps the right meaning because of the tendence of Kupiainen to introduce greek myth things into the atmosphere of the band (remember Elysium).

The Halcyon days were the 7 days before the shortest day of the year and the history is interesting. If you are interested you can read it in:

http://www.greekmyths-greekmythology.co ... cyon-days/

Let's hope that Nemesis will be the right continuation of Elysium and a step forward for the band!

If you type "yen to dollar" or similar into Google auto conversion thing comes up. They do ship worldwide, but the shipping is rather exorbitant tho, they charge $20 + $4 per item so it makes sense to buy lots of stuff at once. Tons of metal albums get bonus tracks on Japan disc tho, so you can probably find something!

It's also up on CDJapan for 2500 yen. It labeled Limited Edition so I suppose it includes the 3 bonus tracks.

Air Mail shipping is 750 yen (for North America) which makes the total up to 3250 yen which is about 37$ US.

Hi, I'm tipping all these just for spanish people, or perhaps portuguese and french!

STRATOVARIUS will go to RNE (Spanish National Radio) to do an interview about the new album and to do an acoustic gig in "El Vuelo del Fenix".

RNE gives 30 double tickets for free for the people who wants to go and see the interview, the gig and perhaps to talk with the band, I don't know! :D

For more informations here is the link:

PD: The day is the 16/1/2013! I can't go to final University semester exams and I have a complex exam the 17th, If someone is going to Madrid, please, then explain us the whole thing!! :)

Just as a quick reference for who wrote what:
Abandon/Unbreakable/Stand My Ground/Halcyon Days: Matias
Fantasy: Lauri
Out of the Fog: Kotipelto/Liimitainen/Kupiainen (Lyrics Kotipelto/Liimitainen)
Castles in the Air/Dragons: Jens
One Must Fall: Kupianen
If The Story Is Over: Kotipelto/Liimitainen (lyrics Liimitainen)
Nemesis: Kupiainen

Kotipelto contributed lyrics to all of Matias' songs, Matias cowrote Unbreakable and Stand My Ground's lyrics, the rest were all Koti.
Jens and Lauri wrote their own lyrics, and one of the bonus tracks features lyrics from Kotipelto and either the Finnish conductor Osmo Vanska, or the former-Nightwish Bassist Sami Vanksa. All I have is the last name Vanska.

BTW: I have not heard the bonus tracks, just saw the credits for them.
