Strato in the household

Post by Kosmo » Sun Aug 22, 2010 3:42 pm

Okay so simply, what does your family and friends think about Stratovarius (and your music taste in general). For example do they comment at all when you're playing their songs?

My half-brother was the one who got me to listen to power metal so obviously he's cool with it. My oldest brother listens to that japanese pop stuff and my other brother pretty much listens to everything from hip-hop to classic rock and some metal bands. I get to hear some comments from time to time about my music taste..Negative mostly.

And my friends..Well i actually only have one friend who i would call a metalhead, other ones listen to reggae and rap.

My parents like Strato actually, they went to the concert with me and my brother in 2003. I remember my mom saying "the singer is really hot" She likes some Edguy and Iron Maiden. Oh and she loves "I Did It My Way" by RR.. even has it as her ringtone.

My family listens to numerous birds while they sing, also cars when they pass in front of the house, drops when they fall.. It's hard to make specifications on such a broad question

Aside from the prog and some classic rock I have in common with my dad, my parents hate my music. Not like DEVIL WORSHIPER hate, but, "Too much going on and this vocalist sounds awful" hate.

My mother only likes Forever and When Mountains Fall. My dad likes the music but he just can't stand TK's voice. My little brothers both don't like most rock/metal. Although my youngest brother loves Kiske's solo albums. :)

Well my grandmother actually likes my music.
She was a big fan of prog and jazz when she was growing up.

Also my godfather shares my taste for music.

Many of my older relatives, too, seem to dislike TK's voice. o_O In general, many of those who are older and listen to classic rock?

Many of my friends like Stratovarius, two of the best listen to it about as much as I do. Mother's mostly saying she's used to it and she can take it, but she actually seems to enjoy some songs much, i.e. Forever and Mother Gaia. It's tough to get other than democratic answer from my dad, though, but I think he too likes the music but not Kotipelto's voice.

Yeh, the same pretty much goes with Black Diamond and even with Forever. Although I think that Hunting High And Low is THE big hit.

It was awesome when the Finnish crowd started the chorus of Stratovarius's Hunting High And Low when Freedom Call were playing theirs. :D I actually KNEW it was going to happen just before it happened... the crowd had popped so much to the song to begin with. :D Also, the start of the chorus is very similar in the first place. :P

Most everybody I know (friends, girlfriend, relatives) admit to liking some of the music except for the vocals. They all hate TK's voice.

Vic and I discovered Stratovarius the same time. :D We were watching a metal music show on TV, and played "Against the Wind" video. That was in early 2000, I think.

Well, my mid-brother is a meatl fan like me, but he likes the 80/90's wave of hard rock/classic heavy metal: He only likes "Black Diamond" and "Will The Sun Rise?" :D. My mum says it sounds like church music (WTF ?!), and my older brother has neutral opinions about it

What else could I ask? My family sucks 50% and rocks 50%

My mom's ok with it, and my grandma too! They just complain when it's very loud in my room!
