what do you think? songs from the pre-kotipelto era, like hands of time, twilight time, dreamspace, 4th reich etc. etc. all the best songs of the first three albums... somewhat like Testament did with First Strike Still Deadly...
What are you going to do then?

Yes, it would be interesting to hear how Koti would sing those great songs, like Tears of Ice, Lead us into the Light, and Out of the Shadows, etc.
Personally, I bet he would do a fine job!

I'd love to hear those songs also because with a 10 or more years experience in recording and mixing, I bet Tolkki would make those songs sound completely different...browneyedgirl wrote:

i think its a good idea...
I am curious to feel them play the stuff of the past... then there is koti and years of experience in studios...perhaps to make it even more interesting they should insert some special guest...a sort of StratoOpera that ends with an inedit song.

Re: old tunes re-recorded?
I think that isn't posible Strato is in big crises and by the way Koti ignorates Tolkki.
He propably won't never singing again first three albums.
And songs from first three albums has specially atmosphere, beacuse many fans(like me) love Tolkki's voice.
Kotipelto voice is supreme, but isn't proper for this.
Let the past rest in peace.
I love first three albums so how are.
I don't wish changes with this records.

Go on dreaming Antò!!
I surely would buy an album that contains the best songs of the first Strato-era sung by Kotipelto, plus a mega-suite composed by all members... But I think this could be perfect as last album of stratovarius career... well, if it's not ended yet

Hi!
My first post There is a bootleg (i don't really think that be, cause it has an incredible sound!) called Live in Langen where there is a medley track with a lot of old tracks (Fright Night, Twiligth time, Hold On to your Dreams and many more) singed by Mr. Kotipelto.

I have 4th Reich here on my computer, sung by Koti. It's live though. It sounds too good to be a bootleg :O
However, I have no idea from which album is it, and I can't find it from the internet anymore. :/

Re: Re: old tunes re-recorded?
I love Tolkki's voice, too. Very much--but, even I cannot help but be curious as to how Koti would sing these wonderful older StratoSongs. I do not think that is betraying TT to wonder about this. In fact, as was mentioned Koti has already sang a number of these songs and did very well at them.Pavel Vaverka wrote:

However, these songs are Tolkki's, just as Kotis solo albums are his! Do we want Tolkki to sing,"Beauty has Come"? Maybe, and he might do well.
The point is, we like to hear singers cover other singers and they do fine--but, still, in the end and all things considered, the original is usually the best!
Seriously, I don't think Koti could convey the heartbroken emotions that TT projects in TEARS of ICE!!

Re: old tunes re-recorded?
Woule be nice. This is something that I'm always hoping for when bands release "best of" albums, that they should have re-recorded some old songs instead of just releasing the same old songs again and again. It WOULD be nice to hear Kotipelto sing some old songs that Tolkki used to sing BUT it would also be nice to hear re-recordings from some albums that Kotipelto did sing on coz mostly persons develops so, they would probably play the songs in a little bit different way today too.
The problem is that bands doesn't really see this as a top priority and I can understand that as it is ofcourse more fun for both the bands AND the fans to hear NEW songs, so there are almost never time for an idea like this.
Would have been nice for an album like "The chosen ones" to have had re-recorded songs and I actually suggested that to the record company in an e-mail but I got the response that there was not time for it, so instead we got a pretty unnecessary album.

I think it would be very interesting
to compare TT and TKs
voice. But I think the good old songs
should be only the good old songs
alright!!
