Worst voice in metal?

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

Worst voice in metal?

Post by htcdude » Wed Feb 16, 2005 3:07 pm

Come on which voice do people dislike the most in any metal song??

I listened to Astral Romance by Nightwish the other day and realised how bad the guys voice is in that!! Not sure who it was i can't remember who was the male vocalist back then :D

I think that Dave Mustaine is not the best singer ever...

I am the worst singer you'll ever discover. :D

Blaze Bayley wasn't as awfull as many people say, but he certainly wasn't as good as Dickinson. And even though I'm a huge fan of Andi Deris' (Helloween, ex-Pink Cream 69) voice, he really shouldn't try to sing any Kiske/Hansen-material live (he does Dr. Stein very well though), since songs like Eagle Fly Free and Starlight sound quite... not-so-good done by him. IMO he has very very enjoyable and unique voice, but he simply can't reach high notes like Kiske or Hansen. :P
Thirdly, I think Tarja Turunen has very emotionless and cold voice without any feeling, though she is technically quite good.

No one else comes to my mind right now. Of course there are probably million demo-bands with bad singers, but I tried to list only the more "famous" ones.

The girl in Sinergy sounds awful imo... As for the vocals in Astral Romance I dunno. I know Tuomas did some vocals for The Carpenter (also on AFF-album).

Worst voice in metal... tough one. Hmm. If you believe Linkin Park are metal, then I say their singer. If not, probably the voices of those new "Cheese Metal" bands  There's one other voice I HATE, and that is Rhapsody's. Sure, the guy has a great voice, but it just makes me want to yell SHUT THE FUCK UP when I'm happily enjoying the melody. :?

Arch Enemy's old vocalist, before Angela Gossow (who, btw, is amazing methinks) was just painful to listen to. He would try to growl and it just sounded... weak.

Angela has more balls than he ever did :D

Joacim Cans of Hammerfall.

His voice is too high pitched and without power, and has an annoying feel to it just makes me want to listen to something else.

I think the guy for NightW has a weird voice but not bad 'cuz he's just like the secondary voice, like the devi inside Tarja. 'bout Linkim Park, I think he has a prettty strong voice, he has actually like 4 different voices! :? but he does, and I respect him.

Legacy Of Kings is their worst album, Renegade the best. ;) If you want to know how great vocalist Cans actually is, listen the One Crimson Night live album/DVD.

Charles, or Marilyn ???

I'm not trying to be funny---Charles was trying to break into the music business before he messed himself up.

But, yes, Marilyn Manson leaves alot to be desired vocally. He's also really weird--but that maybe all PR.

Well, take Manson without those weird vocals and it won't be Manson anymore.... Just like Rhapsody and their mighty lyrics.

I don't like Andi Deris and James LaBrie (if we talk about great groups).

even if james is very expressive,in live he makes many mistakes...

esA from Personal Demons has the worst voice in metal.
I haven't killed him yet sir,
But when I do, I shall have the stomach and the liver too,
And the floppily doppilies in their horrid glue.

I'm going to have to say Lemmy from Motorhead and Fabio Lione from Rhapsody. I don't really like Tony Kakko, either.

I also don't like Kakko, he gives me the feeling to sing with his nose...
I think Ralf Scheepers sang better when he was in gamma ray, now he tries to sing like halford and it's too high and unearable...

JLB did a wonderful job on Live Scenes From NY imo, and on live at the Marquee too. Never heard the Live At Budokan, tho... Anyway, he's at least 1000 times better than Dominici :D

Yeah---I saw a show a couple years ago where Charlie Manson had made some Demo tapes&was breaking into the Music business. The guy said actually he had a good voice, but he could not get enough money to make a record. So Charles was rejected&it pissed him off big time. It was believed that was what spurned him to kill all those people. Take his anger out on the arrogant upper crust&all that BS, in other words. All that material was used in the last Manson movie.

While we are on the subject of Cult Leaders---David Koresh was also a Metal wannabe. But he had some success. He made a record in late 80s which sold quite well locally---actually given the doom&gloom of the music/lyrics it could be classed as Black metal. He also had a record company--Cyrus Productions which still has a website listed but, the link is dead. Koresh wanted to get into Metal for the same reasons, realisticly, all other musicians do---For the money(duh--to run his cult), and to meet women(at least he was honest!). Plus, use his music to spread his twisted religious dogmas.
And, lets not discuss Marshall Applewhite(Heavens Gate Cult) :eyes: He was into Music, too. :eyes:

Maybe that was Off-topic(or just off). :buh:
Well, a rotten singer, is a rotten singer! :)

Dani Sucks!

Post by TardOnPC » Sun Feb 27, 2005 2:57 am

I think Dani Filth (or however you spell it) from Cradle of Filth is the absolute worst vocals ever, my singer is way better than him
