Info about Fender 1978 guitar

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

I'm not a guitarist, I'm a bassist but I know a lot about guitars as well (even though im a terrible guitar player :D)

Fender Bullet - a smaller guitar than the proper Fender Stratocaster. Is it Fender or Squier? If it's Squire, I'd suggest you avoid it, they're never really much good.

If you want a good guitar for a good price, try ordering from www.music123.com (they deliver to EVERYWHERE in the world) or look at Washburns, they're very underrated and excellent guitars for the price. Jacksons and LTD are also very good.

Are you in Cyprus? If so, go to ATK music in Nicosia or Evangelismos, they've got good selections there. Steer clear of Panasound, they're just huge ripoffs, offering medium-quality equipment for ridiculous prices. Themis Music in downtown Old Nicosia (near Phaneromeni Church) has also got good stuff, check him out.

If you're stuck with a SQUIER Bullet guitar, then your best bet is to sell it to some kid :D

If it's a Fender, it probably needs some work. Changing the pickups is a good idea, as well as a general maintenance and cleanup if its from 1978. Again, Andros at ATK Music is good to fix these sorts of things. Fenders are wonderful instruments but 1970's pieces do have a tendancy to be a bit shaky quality-wise.

Good luck!

Squier only exists since 1982... and I don't think they made Bullets in '78.
So, if it's a strat, it should have black a "fender" insignia on the head. Oh, and the pal should kick ASS 8)

It could be either, Fender had very erratic quality control in the '70s. Two guitars which were exactly the same model could be completely different in terms of quality.

Look at the neck, is it perfectly straight? Are there any gaps where the neck meets the body? are the strap buttons loose? those sorts of things
Also, listen to each note. are some very quiet or dead sounding? Those are known as 'dead spots' on the neck and they're suprisingly common on Fenders. Again, take it to Andro at ATK, he should be able to help.

Um, on www.harmony-central.com you should find some decent articles. Also check out www.guitar.com but it can be a little rough...
