Re: CHAOS in Norway
Turns out that instead of some crazed muslims, the suspect they arrested is a white, bona fide Norwegian (I was surprised by this and so were you) Anders Behring Breivik Surprised, why? Because the alleged attacker was as lily-white and non-muslimy as Petri Gerdt? Islamic terrorism accounts for les...

Love it. The first two seasons are absolutely stellar! A tremendous exploration of the human psyche. Not for the faint of heart, certainly, but awesome stuff!

Re: Metal Legends Accept reunite without Udo Dirkschneider!
Funny that they got Schwarzmann, UDO's old drummer (Stefan Kaufmann, the drummer from the classic line-up, switched to guitar after a back injury and has been in Dirkschneider's band for more than a decade). Sounds like a cash grab to me, but if they produce something good, I'll check it out...

Very sad news! The great Dom DeLuise passed away on May 4, 2009. Always enjoyed his work, particularly in Mel Brooks' movies. RIP!

Re: Places of interest - how much?
According to a friend who visited Vietnam, the price of admission is generally 10 times higher for foreigners. I suppose you can look at it as subsidizing the local population so as to encourage interest in culture. I mean, students generally also receive discounts. Though I usually get away with pr...

9 Rota wasn't particularly much worse than much of the stuff that comes out of Hollywood (now, there's a ringing endorsement!
). Though, as far as Afghan war movies go, I thought Afganskiy izlom was better (which, if I'm not mistaken, shares a director with Taras Bulba).

Why yes, alive and well, thank you very much! I've spent most of my time in a land far, far away, inhabitated by moose and moomin trolls (and the occasional crossbreed, such as Tony Halme). Anyone into these guys? Very good Finnish melodic death band. Their second-to-latest album, "Deadlight", is absolutely awesome. The single off that album, "Deadsong", even received quite a bit of airplay on radio. As you might have guessed from the titles, the lyrics are mainly about sunshine, puppi...

I don't have any particular dislike for Windows, but I have a gnawing suspicion that Vista was, in fact, written by Satan. Sure, it looks all nice and shiny at a first glance, but using it will condemn your soul to be forever charred by the fires of damnation. And as if eternal damnation wasn't bad ...

Re: What would happen if it were PROVED there is No God?
"Whistling through the graveyard" was originally a Churchillian expression that was used to describe Stalin's refusal to accept the reality that war was coming between Germany and the Soviet Union. We have returned to that point in history once again, in regards to radical Islam, and there are plen...

Re: What would happen if it were PROVED there is No God?
"Whistling through the graveyard" is apparently a favorite pastime in many parts of the world these days, particularly in Europe. Stalin did this even as he signed off on the Nazi-Soviet pact, and only to be engaged in ferocious combat not long thereafter. I have no idea what you're saying here. Th...

Re: What would happen if it were PROVED there is No God?
I whole-heartedly agree with NeonVomit. The teachings of Jesus, to be kind and loving to one another, to be humble and recognise one's own imperfections and to be charitable, does not require the existence of a God to be true. The Buddhists have a notion that everyone, regardless of religion, are cl...

Re: What would happen if it were PROVED there is No God?
Why tell only Christians that God does not exist? Why not buy a billboard and declare God's passing at the neighborhood mosque? Jesus was a fairy tale, and Mohammed was not? Of course, you're well aware Jesus is considered a very important prophet and a messenger of God in Islam. If you had young k...

Excellent band. They hit their peak with The Dark Saga and Something Wicked..., but the other releases aren't too shabby either. Ripper does quite well for himself on The Glorious Burden. He's no Matt Barlow (or Rob Halford), true, but then again, not many singers are.

Re: What would happen if it were PROVED there is No God?
Unfortunately, it seems that the mere mention of God's name causes the smug factor to go through the roof with some atheists. Not to mention with some Christians. Atheists typically "evangelize" that Christianity itself is "based on fear and control", which in and of itself, shows a remarkable lack...

Re: What would happen if it were PROVED there is No God?
I agree somewhat with Stealth, in that if someone claims there is a god, the burden of proof would be on that person making that claim, not the other way round. Faith is by definition irrational. If we had evidence there is a god, it would be called knowledge, not faith. That said, how exactly would...

Thanks for the link man. I work as a software engineer (and finishing of my last year of university studies). As I don't have my degree yet my salary is on the low end of what I could be getting, but I live quite well nevertheless. It's a line of work I would recommend, in other words ;) But yeah, my first year or two study...
