Re: If Jens Johansson read and answer my question...
@Plisken: Well let's just say Jon Lord was and still is a big influence to me. Yes, adding a Marshall stack to Hammond/leslie combination sure defined his 'signature' sound. That actually had to do with Ritchie Blackmore's disinterest in playing 'rhythm' parts on his guitar. So instead Jon Lord star...

Re: If Jens Johansson read and answer my question...
Wow Plisken, What a wonderful emulations you constructed!! I am really impressed! (And some serious chops too 8) ) I think you have a point stating Jens may consider it as some sort of intellectual property. On the other hand, I think it's cool keyboard players can have a 'signature' sound, just lik...

Re: Jens solo - 2013 Tour
Interesting topic! Regarding the use of laptops.. something I have considered for years but never dared to experiment with in live situations... how come something like the muse receptor has not been mentioned yet? They seemed to be popular at some point, but I never was able to experiment with one....

Lord of the keys
A sad sad day in the history of rock and roll. I knew he was diagnosed with with cancer, but somehow thought he would recover. Unfortunately he did not. Being a keyboard player myself I have been inspired by many wonderful players. Yet, there was only one man that guided me towards the hammond organ...

Damn, it had been too long ago for me since I last saw these guys. I was a bit surprised to see 2 bands open up for Stratovarius. I just overlooked this in the announcement I guess. Oh well, I'm never too old to learn about 'new' bands. Even though they were not really my cup of tea, they were both ...

If you're in for some more freaky stuff, I recommend 'Art metal' from Jonas Hellborg. It's got enough of Jens virtuoso fingers for Strato-fans to go check it out

Wisdom is suppose to come with age... at least that 's what I'm told. But I have a feeling that Jens already is a very smart person
Have a nice day Jens and cheers to many more musical years to come!

tuning up???
Oké, I stumbled on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjx_GjyXCs4 version of Van Halens Jump.... For some reason they play Jump in C# instead of C this tour. Maybe DLR expanded his vocal cords? :D You can hear Eddie struggle to get it right on his (wrongly tuned???) guitar. Anyway, tuning u...

Re: Keys in E or E flat on downtuned songs???
I usually try to play the song both untransposed and transposed. Then I decide which was easier and then play it like that. In notebooks however the notes are sometimes written in E although they are supposed to be palyed in E flat. In that case I just stick to the notebook and play it transposed. ...

Re: Zenith of Power?
More off-topic: Isn't there also a discussion about prohibiting the Qur'an in the Netherlands ? Yes, by a small minority. That will never happen. As in matter of fact, it seemed that trying to get 'mein kampf' back in the stores was some sort of reaction against this minority that wants to prohibit...

Slightly off-topic... but at this very moment a discussion is going on here in the Netherlands wether or not you should be able to buy 'mein kampf' in bookstores. You can understand this has led to some serious discussions....

Re: 666 common knowledge or not?
I didn't take it personally. I'm not that easily offended. :D And then, you had a good point in questioning wether or not a remark like I made on the phone was really okay. And I can imagine a whole lot of conversations in which I wouldn't have commented about the particular number. Maybe I'm too fo...

Re: 666 common knowledge or not?
I can't imagine saying something like this to the phone to someone whom I don't know. I don't know what you're doing, but I'm absolutely SURE that our business partners wouldn't understand that, as well as "your" person on the phone. If you don't know who you're speaking with, it's not too suitable...

666 common knowledge or not?
Just to make sure I'm not alone on this one... :? So at my work I received a phone-call from some company. I forgot what for and it wasn't for me but for a colleague that wasn't there at that moment. I asked if I could write down their name and phone-number so my colleague can call them back. So whe...

Okay, in all honestly it's not stratovarius, but it does feature Jens playing one of my favourite Deep Purple songs. Gosh, I wish more of material would come available!

Re: Good God! ???
Actually, these things have existed for ages. The company I work for received letters like these in the mail even before e-mail took over. I can remember people were actually asked to inform the police when they received letters like these. My 'delete' button has become a more valuable tool over the...

Re: Keys in E or E flat on downtuned songs???
Actually what you just said is the rule: if it's written on the staff to tune half steps down, then do accordingly. That's how sheet music based on Eb tuned guitars usually is. Thanks! Although I'm not too sure what it will say on the keyboard sheet music in this case. Haven't seen enough of that I...

Re: Keys in E or E flat on downtuned songs???
Okay, so I shouldn't make life too difficult...? I guess you're have a point, but I have always detested using the transpose button. I wonder if there's some rule to live by, but I guess no one in the band could care less what buttons I need to press as long as it sounds right... Right  Yet how...

Keys in E or E flat on downtuned songs???
Oké, this may sound like a really ignorant question, but I am curious about your (forum readers) responses nonetheless... Say you are playing a song which is in E flat. I'll take Malmsteen's 'Rising Force' as an example. We play this song with our band. But the first time we rehearsed this our guita...

Re: Sonata Arctica's UNIA is out there...
Well, I couldn't help it, but I liked it from the first spin. I only had a 'best of' CD from these guys. But that has changed with UNIA. Yes I can understand that the real fans will be devided about this release. Yet I happen to like the more dark approach. A few more guitar solo's would be welcome ...

So things start to look good for you guys then? Cool! Do keep us informed. Yeah about the performance... realise this was our very first gig (and still is to this day). The guitarplayer is actually the reason I joined the band. He is VERY good. He has been touring with Lana Lane and Erik Norlander a...

Since we're sharing links, I thought I might as well post the link to my band 'into the arena'. This is 'Rising Force' from you know who... Please try to look through the crappy vid-quality. Our sound was completely ruined by the sound engineer. My monitor did hardly function... Anyway, have fun! ht...

Hello forumers, I have been visiting this forum for quite a while now. I thought it might be fun to register. I love Stratovarius of course, but I am mainly a big Jens fan. :) Not too hard to imagine I play keys as well. At least a brave attempt to. Some facts about me (if you want to 8) ) I'm in tw...
