Re: New Symfonia song on YouTube 'In Paradisum'

I can't be the only one who was hoping for something that wasn't just a Stratovarius clone... right? I mean, yeah, it's a good Strato clone, but still, that's all I'm hearing out of this, and despite how good the songs turn out to be, any listening I do is going to be hindered because of that. The s...

The last album I got in the mail was "The Great Escape" by Seventh Wonder. Amazing album that lives up to their previous albums in ways I never imagined it could.

I definitely hear some similarities to Cain's Offering in a few of these samples... maybe that's just me.

That's not a bad thing, though :D They sound awesome.

Re: Avantasia - Dying for an Angel leaked

I quite enjoy the song (as well as the samples of the other songs from these albums.) Honestly, it would be quite boring for Tobias to just plop out Metal Opera Part 3 because it wouldn't live up to the others at all. And, of course, if your only expectation of Avantasia is for them to just do "Meta...

I definitely agree. If Strato is going to release a full concert DVD, though, I'd recommend taking notes from One Cold Winter's Night. It remains my favorite concert I've watched on DVD, period.

Re: So, when did you encounter Strato for the first time?

It was a progressive metal sampler CD that came with a Richard Marx album I bought for my sister. It was called Progressive Metal: The Metal Years, and it had a live version of Hunting High and Low on it. http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/artist/album/0,,1683169,00.html Pretty much every band on...

Re: Seattle, WA on October 4th

So the drive was an hour and a half there and an hour and a half back. Off by an hour, oh well. Both opening bands were good. Although my friends weren't big fans of Sword of Judgment, I really got into them and let them know I was having a great time. As far as Stratovarius goes... well, apparently...

I'll probably post a recap the day after the show. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive there and another 2 1/2 back, but it's so worth it.

My buddy, Ben and I will be there. He lives in Seattle, but I've never been there. Can you tell me a little about the club? Size of stage, typical lighting? etc. I've only been to the place once, I'll say that right off. But it's just... well, it's rather cramped. I was honestly afraid Edguy's fron...

Seattle, WA on October 4th

Just bought tickets yesterday after I was absolutely certain I could go. First time seeing Stratovarius, but it's a bit of a shame they're limited to just El Corazon. Personally, I'm not a fan of the venue at all, but I'll deal with it like I did last year when I saw Kamelot. Anyhow, enough griping,...

Gotta say I prefer Gather to Polaris right now. I doubt that changes. Both are spectacular, but there is really something special about this one... a spark I didn't get when listening to Polaris.

This album has been nothing short of fantastic thus far. As I said before, I can't wait for my actual copy of the album to come in, as well as for the Seattle show in October. I've never seen Stratovarius live before, so it should be a real treat.
