Visions of Destiny
Hi,
New to this board, and while not new to Strat, not a big listener until as of the past year or so. My son has always been a big fan (and will finally get his chance to see them at Jaxx in Sept....I'll see them at PPVI)
My mom had bought him this CD either last year or the year before as a Christmas gift. She got it at a small store near her (which we always stop in while visiting as they always have cool stuff). I thought it was cool of her and fgured it was an import as she said it was a bit more than some of the others. Never gave it thought...he liked it, i never listened to it (too much to listen too and never enough time...lol).
So...I finally borrow it from him to listen to it (hell, i seldom really read the cd cover...damned print is too damned small)...so i took it to the truck and threw it in. From the first note i thought....this is not a polished recording....sounded like a board mix.
Ok...so tonight i finally brought the CD case in...(where i keep me reading glasses and magnafying glass...lol)....and see...printed right on back....EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD RECORDING....and it pretty much is.
Very hard though to read the rest of the print as it is black on dark blue...though it does say Produced by Stratovarius for _____ Records....(there is more but hard to see in spots and not so sure it is relevant to much).
I searched this site (a bit) and found a few others had copies, listed as bootlegs. Also saw an Ebay listing saying only 1000 were printed.
Can someone shed a little more detailed light to the history of this CD.
My curiosity would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Visions of Destiny
Visions of Destiny is a bootleg, I am 100% sure of it.
Visions of EUROPE on the other hand, is a legitimate recording (Stratovarius' only live album - a double disc album).
As for only 1000 copies were printed, perhaps you are mixing this up with STRATOVARIUS II (also known as Twilight Time) with its original cover (the feet).
I really doubt that it was produced for Stratovarius, as the band did not profit from the purchase of your album in any way.
I hope this helps,

Re: Visions of Destiny
It was grabbed from a tape. The show itself was scheduled on a Finnish TV.

BTW, I saw a copy in good condition on E-bay a couple weeks ago for $11.99. I should've jumped on that deal, but I have all those songs on regular CDs.

I chose CottonCandy as my nick 'cause I'm sweet, soft, and pink!
Being "in the know" is not necessarily a good thing.

Re: Visions of Destiny
Thanks for the info folks.
Not sure what "almost considered an official album" means, but cool.
Not really into bootlegs myself.
Most are of poor quality and not worth the time or money.
And certainly not into boots of studio recordings.
Would rather see my money go to the band.
Though have to say quality live boots are fun to listen too, especially if it is material seldom heard live and/or covers.
The odd thingh I found about htis particular CD was the info that it was Produced by Strat.....not so sure I would have given it too much of a thought if I were the one who saw it in the store.....suppose that is why it was placed there.
So.....ya think they would be offended if I asked them to autograph it for my son?
