It's simple, and really important to know, what the fans think about it...

Re: Should Stratovarius continue and make a new album?
Dunno really, but I guess I have to say yes, because in the beginning Stratovarius' soul was kind of soul of a vagabond, the members were always changing, and even TT wasn't original member...

Re: Should Stratovarius continue and make a new album?
Hell Yeah!
Jens, TK, Lauri and Jörg are all professional musicians and it's very interesting to see what they can put out without mr. Tolkki. I believe it's going be a fresh new start for Strato and it makes Strato to be considered again as a great rock band, not some fucking comedy theatre. And who knows what it could be if they wouldn't even try? At least we, the fans, deserve the another chance cause these last five years has been quite humiliating for a single stratofan.
It's also very interesting to see TT's fresh start with these new guys in Revolution Renaissance. Although I'm not interested this TT's "spiritual side" at all, I still consider him one of the greatest songwriters and guitar players in the world.
I'm going to follow both, Strato and RR, with great interest in the future!

Re: Should Stratovarius continue and make a new album?
Yes sure, but I don't know if it is correct to use the same name...
Anyway, it's more important to me that they make power metal music. I don't wanna see that guys playing rock music or something similar to Kotipelto's band. PLEASE NO. Stay metal or nothing.
The answer to te question is clear, because they are going to continue. In the statement they said:

Should TK, JJ, and JM work together? Hell yeah!
Should they call it Statovarius - don't think so.

Re: Should Stratovarius continue and make a new album?
Not voting on this one as i'm undecided. I know they will play some great music, just hope it will be power metal and not hard rock like kotipeltos last two albums.
Re: Should Stratovarius continue and make a new album?
Ack.. It's just a name. They can do whatever they want since they have the rights to it, but I'm not expecting something bombastic. Jens and Kotipelto are good performers but they're far from being good composers (in my opinion of course).. I must admit that the last Strato album I love is Visions so I don't really fall into the Strato fanclub I suppose.
Of course that name is already exposed so it's sure money (short term). Other than that, to keep the name would make no sense at all. It's like keeping the name Malmsteen if Yngwie left.

Re: Should Stratovarius continue and make a new album?
After Tolkki abandoned all the rights, JJ+TK+JM+LP would be absolutely not credible to continue with the name Stratovarius. This band is over, Tolkki was its heart and soul. I know the others also wrote good stuff, but face the facts, the main songwriting, the direction, the style, and especially the philosophy was Tolkki's. The 4 have all of my support if they continue as a "new" band. Not so if they take this "chance" Tolkki offered to them. This would instead show that they were the greedy ones, and not Tolkki.

That I really would hope. But we don´t know about the legal reasons behind, the debt to the record company etc. So, time will tell what will happen.stratohawk wrote:After Tolkki abandoned all the rights, JJ+TK+JM+LP would be absolutely not credible to continue with the name Stratovarius. Yes!

Re: Should Stratovarius continue and make a new album?
I'm not sure if they should continue under Stratovarius name, but I don't see any problems about it, since even Mr. Tolkki isn't an original member.
And by the way, he's the composer of 95% of musics and lyrics because most probably he's never let the other musicians songs enter the albuns, just some b-sides and bonus tracks. So given the situation I think it's clear the reason why that happened.
I'm not interested in his spiritual side, I'm only interested about music. That spiritual stuff is no reason to prevent other members of composing and showing their visions to Stratovarius music, that could even enrich band's music. But most probably he was to centered in him self.

Tolkki is the "most original member" of this band actually.
And by the way, he's the composer of 95% of musics and lyrics because most probably he's never let the other musicians songs enter the albuns, just some b-sides and bonus tracks. So given the situation I think it's clear the reason why that happened.
Yes, he didn't give the other members much space for their music. But think of it, now without TT, the direction of the band might have been totally different. It would not be the music you love Stratovarius for now.
And you should divide "spiritual stuff" from "philosophy". The Stratovarius songs about peace, about the threatened mother nature and earth, about finding one's self, about hope and trust, all this belongs to the Stratovarius philosophy, and I guess most of this came from Tolkki. I doubt the others could write about these things credibly. Okay, Kotipelto wrote lots of lyrics. But probably after getting the topic of the songs from Tolkki.I'm not interested in his spiritual side, I'm only interested about music. That spiritual stuff is no reason to prevent other members of composing and showing their visions to Stratovarius music, that could even enrich band's music. But most probably he was to centered in him self.
I wanted to see more songs from the other members, too! Definitely! But, without Tolkki, Stratovarius is simply not Stratovarius anymore.
Well we will see.... I hope the best. Stratovarius should really rest. Everything else will have nothing to do with the band that we all loved, although 3 or 4 members will be the same as before.
