Let's have that burgeoning and irritating, possibly pointless even , discussion riiight here. So, what say you? I voted for Polaris. I didn't even think of voting anything else, to be straight.

Re: The Ultimate Battle
I am for Cain´s Offering
Re: The Ultimate Battle
Polaris and Gather the Faithful were awesome, while The Days of Grays was disappointing. But, as I can't vote for two, I'm not going to vote.

Re: The Ultimate Battle
Polaris.
It is a close call though.
all of them are good.
Stratovarius made some of their best works so far and as one of my definate faqvourite bands that is quite good.
Sonata did exactly what I wanted them to do and Days of Grays sounds like I had ordered it.
It is good and I just like how it brings variety to their discography. Yet now that they have done that I wouldn't like them to do another one like it but keep changing instead.
Cain's Offering made a really good album and I have no complaints about it.
yet it ain't as much my style as Polaris for example.
Maybe it is too basic just like Ecliptica which I barely listen to anymore even though it is not that bad.

Re: The Ultimate Battle
The success of Polaris in this poll surprises me. I thought many here thought of Sonata as a band equally great or even better than Stratovarius. However, what interests me still is the result between Sonata and Cain's.

Re: The Ultimate Battle
Cain's Offering. As you know I didn't like Polaris that much and the new SA was just a big bag of medicore for me exept the song "Flag in the Ground".
Re: The Ultimate Battle
Cain's Offering - Gather the Faithful is a great album, but I don't think is better than Polaris!
Re: The Ultimate Battle
Polaris! I liked Gaining the fainfull really much as well. The days of greys (not gays ) was REALLY disappointment even I like Sonata arctica
Re: The Ultimate Battle
I voted for SA, I actually like that better than Polaris
Took me some time to get into it, but now I love it. Polaris never really hit me in that way.
Unfortunetely I didn't like Cain's Offering at all really..

But if you guys shoot Irinia for it, you'll have to shoot me, too, because too I think that Cain's Offering ain't very good!

Shouldn't Age of Aquarius be in the poll too?

Voted The days of grays. Just an amazing album from the SA-guys. Their best album together with Silence and Unia.

Why? It is also Strato related (more than Days of Grays. It is a album from Timo Tolkki for christ's sake.) and although I don't like it, it should be in the poll.Saffron wrote:No.Ragehead91 wrote:Shouldn't Age of Aquarius be in the poll too?

At least The days of grays and Polaris are related in the way that they both are album that contains music. Age of aquarius is random noice recorded on a cd...Ragehead91 wrote:Why? I don't like AoA but I STRONGLY disagree with the above statement.Saffron wrote:At least The days of grays and Polaris are related in the way that they both are album that contains music. Re: The Ultimate Battle
Having heard, Polaris, GtF demos, and Deathaura & FITG I can easily say that The days of grays is better than the other two.
...alright, GtF might be better than TDOG, but since I have heard only few songs I can't really say, but I don't think a powermetallist can do a better invidual song than Deathaura.

Re: The Ultimate Battle
I havent listened to Cain's offering, just for the two others (like I said, I voted for Polaris without a single moment of hesitation, although I love DoG), but with CO...well...I dont like this religious aspect: the name of the band, and the name of the album. That's why I'm really not interested at all by this band!

There's nothing I don't like about Cain's offering. It's over all power metal with blends of other types of music tastefully arranged with climactic lyrics and composition. The vocal melodies are brilliant, I love Jani's solos and his right hand rhythms. I would say that it's the second best album of the year for me right behind Megadeth's Endgame (sometimes I think it's even better than that!). My vote goes to Cain's Offering!

Re: The Ultimate Battle
Nothing Religious about it unless you're into worshiping heavenly power metal! Just check out any of the lyrics online, I assure you there's nothing religious about this album except for Mikko's thank yous in the booklet! I wouldn't want any power metal fan to miss this album! Please check it out!Arkash wrote:I havent listened to Cain's offering, just for the two others (like I said, I voted for Polaris without a single moment of hesitation, although I love DoG), but with CO...well...I dont like this religious aspect: the name of the band, and the name of the album. Re: The Ultimate Battle
EXACTLY!!! You wrote pretty the same thing as I would about Cain´s Offering and CO vs. Megadeth And the sound of CO album is incredible, the guitar in Oceans of regret *IN LOVE*:D And I totally like the way TK sings at this record. At Polaris, he sounds as I expected him to sound, but with Gather the faithful - I was surprised by his vocal performance. For me, one of the best things I heard from him ( if not the best).Burning Reflection wrote:There's nothing I don't like about Cain's offering. And the lyrics are really not about religion at all!!! I would say that the lyrics at Polaris are a bit more out-of-reality than those at CO. I wouldn´t want to miss such a great music just because of the name of the band Give it a try
PLS don´t kill me, in the end, I add that Polaris is still a greaaat piece of music and I love it, right?

Re: The Ultimate Battle
Heck, this has been a heck of an year! Lots of great releases, Stratovarius on the road...
In my opinion, Cain's Offering Gather The Faifthful is the best album of the year, a straight 10/10. And actually I like The Last Amazing Grays better than Polaris, but what the heck, they were all fantastic releases.
Polaris was a great release, I think it's the return of Stratovarius to life. Even though I like those two albums better than Polaris, that makes Polaris really special to me.

Re: The Ultimate Battle
Saying that it is only random noise is just plain and simply wrong. This isn't Drone Metal. All the songs have structure and there is nothing random about them.Saffron wrote:You have the full right to have your own opinion.Ragehead91 wrote:I don't like AoA but I STRONGLY disagree with the above statement.Saffron wrote:At least The days of grays and Polaris are related in the way that they both are album that contains music.
