Cool to hear new stuff indeed. The only thing is that I really can't stand Gus' voice. I don't know what it is. I just really dislike his sound. The song itself is kinda cool! :)

Nice, catchy, rocking "radio friendly" song. The solo is amazing.

to say he is a bad singer is just being a idiot. its a solid vocal, people can dislike it, but the vocals are solid

Why is it that whenever I come here once in a blue moon, I always run into you saying something even dumber than the last?

Hmm it's ok.Nothing special in my opinion.Tolkki did better music with much more soul and feeling.

Sounds like Thunderforce.

Thunderforce sounds like Stratovarius.

Stratovarius sounds like an orgasm.

The song is good. But I agree with some of you. Gus isn't a bad singer, but he doesn't fit in that nicely. Tolkki should try to get guys like these:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-MezmaVBNV8?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-MezmaVBNV8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

And of course, the solo is cool

Like I already said the song is definately not disappointing but not the best ever either.
You can still hear a lot of AoA in there but with something new too.

I think this song would fit some other singers a lot better.

I have listened this song around 15 times and I don't like it. The solo is very good. The chorus is horrible. Gus sounds strange and the song as a whole, dissapoints me.
We'll see the rest of the album.

Opinions are quite fun, i mean i think exactly the opposite! :)

I mean TK was reeeally good when he was younger but now i like him even more when he doesn't try to soar sky high with his voice.

Some like the mother and some like the daughter.

I also like the fact that he doesn't sing high all the time anymore. But sometimes he still tries it, and that is something he shouldn't do anymore. Because IMHO he can't deliver it powerful anymore. How much he wishes to still sing Father Time live, it's just not good. I love his lower voice though. Hope he does a lot with that in the new album and on the coming tours. :) Transpose some older songs down maybe.

Michael Kiske has no problems to sing high live although he is older than Kotipelto. :)
Part of Stratovarius sound are those high melodies and I think they should stay there as well.

This kind of leaves you with a mixed feeling about that subject. :P

But as said i prefer his voice in general now, on albums and when he doesn't try too high.

Oh and about Dreamchild: It's not bad, i would call it good..Nothing special really. Just a good song for radio plays, the solo did kick ass though.

Yes it's true that the high melodies were part of Strato's past. But wouldn't you like to remember them as they were when they were recorded instead of TK hopelesly trying to sing them these days.

Just listen to Father Time from Polaris Live. It's just not powerful and not good.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret rikkertje.
Concerts are not put on for people to record and scrutinize. I saw Stratovarius in Cleveland, they sung Father Time, I walked out of the venue thinking "Wow, that was a GREAT show, TK was incredible".
I then, a few months ago, found a bootleg of that same very show, I listened to Father Time, Forever is Today, and other songs you cited as "Weak" performances, on the bootlegs, you're absolutely right. Sitting in my music cave, listening to those songs off my carefully crafted sound system, they weren't all that good. But I maintain that actually HEARING them in a live setting, the show wouldn't be the same without them. So if you want to argue that they shouldn't play songs that sound bad on a bootleg or a youtube video, go right ahead. But I'd rather hear songs that sound great at the concert, and Father Time is one of those songs.

Well I heard TK sing Father Time live too. And I didn't like it at all. Just weak and forced. I loved the atmosphere at the concert though. But still I don't like to hear him trying to sing songs he once could sing really good.

But hey, everyone their opinion. :)
