The problem is that we are already used to a specific logo or symbol in Strato. I mean, this is not a band starting from scratch, a band that we have never seen a symbol or logo in it as if we had no idea of how it was going to be. They have used two different logos. They are slightly different, mainly because of the lily, but the essence is still the same. You can perfeclty recognize the second one as a Strato logo, although it was changed a bit. Maybe they decide to change that a little bit, since after all is a new beginning, isn't it? But the essence will still kept the same, I'm sure.

So, that means that Stratovarius disappeared a WHILE ago, since Jari left the band and went with Mess . . .right? Or way before that when Staffan left the bad in 1985 or before that? Or was there a Stratovarius without him? Do you think they should had dropped the name back then, too? Or is that Porra is better than Jari? Or is it that Tolkki IS Stratovarius to you? Clarify this point. 'Cuz right now, it seems like you are following a single person, and by doing so, attaching emotions and band names to that person, instead of a band.

Oh, and by the way, I'm a fan, and Stratovarius will always be Stratovarius as long as a group of guys "inherit" the name. A style change, a musician change, means nothing. Because if it would, we would no longer have any Blind Guardian.

There could be some interesting experiments with bands renting out their name and seeing what happens. There is that subjective question as to bands being performers, writers, or any mix in-between. The current stratovarius has written the music to less than 10 songs out of more than 100 but on the other hand the lyrics to songs that could make one damm good set list or cd. No matter what the dynamic changes or the technical details nothing takes away from the songs or people enjoying playing and hearing them. Keeping the name will help spread tolkkis lyrical message as his songs are played and new people are introduced. More fans of stratovarius will also make more fans of RR even it’s a small crossover rate it will be more than a 0.

Well, I understand that everyone has a right to have an opinion about it. This is what Timo himself wrote about the issue 22 days ago:

If he thinks and feels differently about it now and does want to divide people, or make them "take sides"... well there is not much I can do about that. Everyone has to think for themselves. Hopefully you can set aside all these non-musical ideas about what band name people are supposed to be doing this or that, who may hold a grudge against whom, who wants you to take sides against whom...... and just enjoy whatever music comes from either band. That's the whole reason we're actually even doing this: so that people will get good feelings from it.

For me, TT, and the rest of us in the bands, Lassila, Jari, whoever, these are and have been practical issues. For us this non-musical crap is something we have to deal with, but for the rest of you guys it ideally really should not be.

Speaking of Lassila by the way, interestingly I actually had a long (and a bit drunken) conversation with him this past Saturday night in Tavastia at the Stone gig about a lot of this. He is a really good guy too. Anyway as far as myself, I can't structure my life, thoughts and actions around the moods of another person. Especially not TT, his moods and plans change too quickly. I anyway just wanted to say that I agree more with what he wrote on October 6, than some of the stuff I've been reading lately.

Take my word for it: Read the "news" or "statements" regarding non-musical crap as if it was a joke. One day the joke is black, another day is white, another, blue, yellow, red, etc, etc. You have different jokes every day, and with different colours!

It's better and you can laugh a lot. And of course, just pay complete attention about everything that have something to do with music. I see JJ, TK, JM, LP and MK (aka Jaffaa dopping man) with a lot of energy to make us enjoy again. And that's not a joke.

My major expectations around the band are what song are you gonna play on tour.
For me, really, i have to say that it will be very cool to play "the other songs", and not to much the same old setlist with all the glorius hymns that Stratovarius played live every single concert the last 10 years.

Maybe those songs that the lyrics were written by TK, or maybe "Glory of the world" written by you Jens. Also some covers mixed with the classics.

The reasons for this, i find it in the fact that now we have, like "2 Stratovarius"....maybe with almost the same setlist?

I would be upset if Stratovarius were to change their name...I think they made the right decision. At this pont in time, it seems as those Stratovarius was always TT,TK,Jorg,Jens,Lauri. But in 5 years, we will feel differently about it.

Besides, I'm glad Helloween didn't change their name when Kiske left, Dream Theater didn't change their name when Kevin Moore left, and Angra didn't change their name when Andre Matos left. I hereby decree that Stratovarius shall be no different!

These comments by TT are originating from the simple fact that he wants RR to carry on the Stratovarius legacy, which would be quite difficult if Stratovarius is to remain active.

Its not "the bad one", thats for sure. The difference? His attitude like talking from the top of the mountain, to "the ignorant people"....like, I have the power to do whatever my ass want. it really piss me off.

When has he called himself a guru? Who calls him a guru? His attitude shifts like the rest of us and he acts in different ways in different environments. Sometimes he acts more like what he talks about and sometimes he acts in ways that are negative and irrational. I don’t think anyone is positive or negative 100 percent of the time. I think it’s a very human thing to want to gain in all our actions, but I don’t think that tolkki does not want to share positive moments with friends or can’t stand it when others have success. I don’t think he has a permanent scorn for others and I think that when he has bad moments they can pass over. People are not static and can change and no one is always at one extreme of a scale.

The fans want to hear the old classics live! and can't wait for new songs.
Blackmore left Purple in 75' and Deep Purple is still hot today.Jari already left the band and he wasn't responsable for the strato sound,and Tolkki is happy with his own stuff.Long Live Stratovarius

actually blackmore has left Deep purple not only once but twice and they were still able to go on without him both times.

Pink Floyd went on without Roger Waters and he just like Tolkki wrote at least 95% of the material.
I don't know about everyone else but I thought songs like "On the turning away" were excellent quality songs.

plus if that hadn't happened both Waters and Blackmore would never have given us their post band work.
I mean we got Rainbow,Blackmore's night and Roger waters Solo material.

It's the same with Stratovarius, we will continue to get great songs with them and we will continue to get great songs from Tolkki as well.

Seems pretty clear to me, from what I've heard, it's going to be very epic Stratovarius only with more layers of intricate keyboards and exciting, edgy guitar riffing, solidified by Jörg's signature, exceptional drumming and overlaid with the distinctive vocals of Kotipelto that will make it all, unmistakably Stratovarius! Couldn't be more excited!
