  Ragehead, you sound like an echo from ancient days. Haven't I heard somewhere that TT wrote 90% of the songs and that he was the mainman for 220 years? And that he would have liked to sue someone for something, whatever. But now everyone are the best of buddies.

What? What the hell are you talking about? I don't get what you want. In this situation it is natural that ppl compare both bands. Nothing bad about it. Some ppl will like AoA more, other ppl will like Polaris more, other will like both.

 I think I will believe you. I have not been here so long and I have only old posts to read which by the way is rather fun. But sometimes tedious. They only talked about strange statements that someone wrote -or not wrote-.Gifts here and there that were no gifts and so on and on. 9000 year is a looong time isn't it ??? But OK if you say so.

:) 9000 year is almost nothing if you compare it with for ex Dinosaurus-Rex's lifetime or why not Big Bang(15 milliarder years ago. There we can talk about considerable time ,you know, and a rockmans 9000 years participation in a band is nothing to write home about). A guitarist in a finnish powerband can surely be more than 10000 year if he takes it easy and don't drink and smoke to much. Exercise is of course also good and can build up his body for the strain it must be to compose 90% of the music.

The sample sounds excellent, I've listened to it a few times (which is quite impressive considering its only a minute and a half long). Sounds a lot more interesting than Age of Aquarias so far(and yes, I do feel comparisons can be justified).

I think that the intro of the the third sample in that YouTube link sounds a lot like RR's Eden Is Burning.

Fucking hell....I'M SO PROUD OF THIS GUYS, in this case Kotipelto is showing us that he is a great composer and Matias a master of arrangments.

Oh did I miss anything?
I was away for 2 days and suddendly there is seven pages of Telling again and again how great this album will be.
And just because of a 1:30 long sample of a song?
that must just mean that this album will rule.

Well time to give my opinion.......I have been reading alot of good stuff about the sample. And I have heard alot of people kinda not liking it saying that its a Kotipelto rip off. Well I was truely excited about the download and did not know what to expect. I have not gotten excited about a Stratovarius release since Elements Pt 1. However I was pleasantly suprised. In a 1:40 I had my fist in the air and my head banging as my heart raced through the song. This song is very uplifting and gives hope to those ( like me...) who have been going through a tough time. That to me is the epitome of a great Stratovarius song. To me its all in the emotion whether it be fast song, ballad, or epic. The essence of Stratovarius no matter who the mastermind is behind the band has been the quality of material and it changes you, it makes you think, it makes you feel powerful and ALIVE!. ALL OF THAT IN A 1:40! DAMN  And to be honest yes I can see where some people will relate a similarity to Kotipelto in this song but to call it a rip off and knock it, in my opinion is unwarranted! Yes there are some things that make a distant relation to Kotipelto's faster songs ( ie Knowledge and Wisdom and Seeds of Sorrow ), however "Higher We Go" ( and not to knock Koti as a singer/songwriter) blows those songs out of the water! Once again its in the power in the emotion of the song. You can hear that Stratovarius is playing the songs real and with passion, not just to say "lets make a fast song to make the fans happy!"Besides you hear Matias' influence as well with the arrangement and he does AWESOME! Its the best sounding stuff in years and is a natural successor to the Elements era......actually its the beginning of a their NEW ERA! Sorry to be so winded but thats how I feel......I read the forums often and to me there are going to be fans out there that are going to be overly critical of whatever Strato releases. You hear it before every release. Strato can release the masterpiece of the century and they will find something wrong with it! No offense to anyone just my opinion!

But to end this..................1:40 of pure melodic metal mastery. THE RETURN OF THE MELODIC METAL TITANS! HAIL STARTOVARIUS AND HAIL POLARIS!
SHINE ON!

Hymn to Life, Saana and Age of Aquarius bored the shit out of me.

New Era was pure Visions worshiping and exept from a few Songs (Last Night on earth, Heroes, I did it My Way) nothing special.

Because it's made by Tolkki and is boring
It's amazing, funny and sad how someone can wage a personal war like this :D
Ragehead, please do read your posts. Many of them are naive and filled with a crashing personal views.

And really, yeah TT did compose most of the songs for Strato. Then he left Strato. Formed a new band from a scratch. What if it'd be something completely different from everything he's done before. Well it also happens to be metal. I don't think the comparison is really necessary.
For example the description you put on that Higher We Go clip on Youtube is just super funny :D It just keeps on supporting your posts. Naive and insular.

Anyway, I believe this album's gonna be great!

By the way, try listening to lyrics. And reading books, because it helps to understand the lyrics.

What? This is my opinion about his solo albums and AoA. They bore me. Even if I would like Tolkki, his more recent solo and AoA music would still bore me. And yes, I don't like Tolkki, so what?

Musically, his solo albums lacks in every way for me. We as fans, always look the bright side of everything, but in the end this albums are really poor (the RR albums not that much). Like Koti's Coldness, wich has extremely bad songs ( except Seeds of sorrow).
And why? just becouse Tolkki had this formula of make fatastic melodies in a metal way, but when he wants put that on another style of music (like Saana, Hymn to life), it doesn't work, totally. That false "rock opera"....if you want to here a real rock opera or symphonic, listen to REAL orchestation not synths, opera doesn't mean artificial winds sounds. That thing is boring and plastic

So +1 on this
