The new issue of German Metal Hammer features an interview with Timo and Jens, there are some nice statements which aren’t featured in the online video interview
http://www.metal-hammer.de/magazin/feat ... mesis.html though, so I’ll post some of the other statements here:
Jens talking about the need of good musicians in a band: “In the past it wasn’t usual to use backing tapes that much, but nowadays they’re everywhere. No need to wonder why Justin Bieber can even sing while vomiting.”
About the album title, Jens says “Matias came up with the name. Probably he just thought it to be cool and didn’t even know the meaning behind it back then.”
Metal Hammer talks with them about the new “democracy” after TT left (Metal Hammer called TT the “former dictator”) and then mocks the lyrics in Fantasy, especially the “fantasy can become reality”-part, and Timo and Jens laughing about it: “That was Lauri’s idea. The demo version was actually called “Save The World”. Then Lauri changed it – and here you have why our new democracy in the band can also bear some problems – when we choose a song to appear on the album, it WILL appear. Also when the composer suddenly changes the lyrics.” And Jens: “For Elysium, we sorted out many of Lauri’s songs, which surely was kind of unfair to him, but of course we can’t release a two-hours-album” (why not…) and Timo adding: “In the past you were touring to sell your albums. Nowadays it’s the other way round. But we’re dumb enough to spend a lot of money to make the album and to make it sound good, although you hardly make any money out of it nowadays. But that’s how we want it! We could record an album for a third of that money, but that’s not how it works for us. Fortunately metal fans still buy CDs, they are the last remaining loyal fans. That’s what saves our asses, and the asses of the labels and the of whole scene.”
