Ah good to know that as haven´t got any info about that earlier here in Finland.

But why every strato-release except the latest album must delay... :?

Looks awesome ! So much old stuff there, that's what i like :D

I woiuld have preferred the old Strato writing on the cover :P, but still it's damn cool

However, with it being such a big album, and with old songs... it does seem like it MIGHT be their last, as someone mentioned with the whole Sanctuary thing .... :/ :'( i sure hope it isn't :(:(:(

however.. would they have brought a new bassist into the band for good, just for live shows ?

meh

well... i sure will be getting it :D

well... the album is titled

Black Diamond: The Anthology

Sure does look like it could well be their last release.... :err: :err: :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I really do hope that they produce another album though.. because imo, their self titled last album.. is poo.

No it isn't, there are some strong tracks like Zenith of Power, Land of Ice and Snow, Fight!! and Just Carry On, but also really poor filler song called United  and some others not-so-good tracks.

hmm, well i liked gypsy in me, and maniac dance is nice n catchy.. if treading a little in edguy's pop-power metal path

I do like the other songs.. it's just that you can find far more powerful tracks over Strato's time

I saw this just now...
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I think the deal with Sancturay was for 3 albums, not 2...

err, where has anyone stated that this could be the last album, because the band does not seem in any way finished...

Yeah...
And Tolkki also stated some weeks ago on his forum that Strato will do the next album when he gets the new songs ready. It´ll take time though as he said they have no schedules or deadlines.

What? Why not a little bit more creative name like "Walk to my own bests" or "Awaken the bests" instead of just *Black Diamond: The Anthology*.

btw Anthology remembers me everytime to Manowar's Antho because it was my first Manowar-album and one of my first metal album ever I bought. It looks like:

but cover of Strato's best of will be very nice!!!!!

In my opinion there aren't more than one Stratovarius compilation, "The Chosen Ones", which was released seven years ago. Of course there's the "compilation" which was released only in Japan, and it didn't quite give the right image of their talents, because almost every song that they put on that disc was poorly chosen. I think it is more than deserved to release a 2CD-compilation with perfect song choices and make the band popular around the world.

Do you mean "14 Diamonds" or "Past and Now"?

Yeah, I meant the "14 Diamonds" album, not many people have had an opportunity to buy those two albums anyway.

I managed to find a The Past And Now album last year in Wacken. But no 14 Diamonds so far.

Here you can find 14 Diamonds nearly constantly by ordering it from a good record store Airon Musiikki, I believe they may even have it right now in stock. :)

The Past & Now can be seen sometimes on the auction sites...

Okay, a little update about this compilation thing...

I talked to Tolkki before their show in Montreal tonight and he said they have cancelled the compilation. Of course, the label may end up putting it out anyway, since of course they want money and blah blah, but the whole band feels it's such a cheap way to make money and not beneficial to the fans. So they have stopped it, or at least, tried to make sure it's stopped.

As a footnote, apparently Nuclear Blast approached him about doing a compilation, but i can only assume he turned it down.

STRATOVARIUS ANTHOLOGY

This album has been shelved for now for the undetermined time.
We were never supporting this idea of Sanctuary and finally after
long discussions, they are not releasing it, at least for now.
We just didnt feel right about releasing another compilation after Chosen Ones
at this point of our career. So now we are putting all our effort to our next album.
Case closed for some years...

CB: You’re probably sick to death about this, but for people who don’t read the forum, or internet stuff that you do—the DVD. You’re not doing the São Paul show, right?

TT: No. Quality-wise, it’s wasn’t there, really. It wasn’t such a good gig. It was, like, [the] fourth gig of the tour and stuff, and I am actually pretty much the only one in the band who doesn’t want to release it, but I don’t let it go because I want that it’s really good. So maybe seven, eight songs we can use for that, but not the whole gig. So now we just put it on ice and see what we do—probably going to do, in seven or eight years, some kind of a history thing and have interviews from the old guys, if they want to do them. We have material from the São Paul, we have from Wacken, stuff from Milan, really quality stuff. [We will] make a really good package.

^^In seven-eight years, and perhaps so exhaustive package. It starts to think could their DVD-set be realeased when they decide end their career. Although most of us here would like to imagine Strato "never" ends, but in 7-8 years most of the members are already quite old...

But that´s just my pondering, nothing serious. :P

 Yes, but I think we all know about REALITY&REAL LIFE: when something gets put-off&off&off again and again, and delayed&delayed&cancelled, again and again, it NEVER gets done; :( After all, look at the Three Stooges movie. :D

Seriously, I will buy it when I SEE it. :)
