Yep, I agree, and I'm sure many other fans would too. Regardless of the professional quality level, or lack, I think it would be GREAT to have more of videos released for the fans to enjoy. I don't think there would be much critique on whether it was "top notch". Maybe at this time, with two bands being essentially branched off from the original, this would be a nice way for fans to remember the past and accept the future.Lurdi wrote:We have very little stuff of this kind from them. Re: A Doubt
I agree. I think we have the rights from YLE-TV to the RMJ thing somehow as well. It's just a question of finding the time and money to put the DVD together. It's also been complicated because the synch rights for the material straddled two labels (blast and sanctuary/universal). But we have a few of the ducks in a row already, and it will be done at some point.. what we have cleared with Universal at the moment is: The right to make two separate full-length DVD's using (at our discretion) material from:Aldaron wrote:Yep, I agree, and I'm sure many other fans would too. Milan, Italy - 12 April 2003; Tuska Open Air 2003, Helsinki, Finland - 11 July 2003; Wacken Open Air, Wacken, Germany - 2 August 2003; Raumanmeeren Juhannus (RMJ), Rauma, Finland - 24 June 2004; São Paulo, Brazil - 27 August 2005; Wacken Open Air, Wacken, Germany - 4 August 2006.
Especially the Milan 5.1 mixes made by Karmila sound fucking awesome. He also made 5.1 mixes of both Elements records and it would be nice to release them in that format some day. I still love both of those records...
Anyway regarding the DVDs, then remains getting the synch and rerecording rights from Blast, which probably is not a huge problem because they are a more "small town" homegrown label and quite good people. And of course -- the actual work of transferring and editing the stuff and making DVD packaging etc.
As I have said before here at the moment anyway we are focusing a little more on the future than on the past, but these DVDs documenting the history of the band are at least on the radar.
But who ever knows..
Cheers,

Re: A Doubt
Jens you guys could film the next gigs in your world tour and include them in a DVD maybe a "The past and now" documentary, specially the gigs you have in Central America

Re: A Doubt
I hope you will release the Elements together, otherwise I there would be too many products and I wouldn't buy either of them.

Re: A Doubt
Well, at least we know they have in mind so many things regarding past gigs, plus they are gonna make new albums, new gigs, new merchandise etc. etc. It's really incredible and good. Wow.

A wonderful idea! :bigok:
Re: A Doubt
Excellent. Obviously, it will take some time for a DVD or two to be put together and distributed, but it is great news to hear it is a possibility and that there is so much footage to choose from, especially the Milan gig in 5.1. With that much available, I'm sure there should be enough to make at least one great DVD. The Elements in 5.1 would be a must have for me; together or separate. :music:JensJohansson wrote: I agree. RMJ (from 2004, was it?) was friggin' amazing. One of the best shows Stratovarius has ever done, in my opinion.

That was totally amazing. The atmosphere, the lights, every single sound and note. Everything was in its place. Eternity was incredible. They almost make me cry. What about Speed of light? Well, the whole performance obviously showed how great musicians they are and how great and touching singer TK is.RazielSR wrote:Really incredible, the best show. The beginning with speed of light is astonishing. Such a wonderful show...and they seemed really good friends...what a pity.
But well, we are gonna have more speed of light with the correct vocalist!!!!!

Yes the shows that summer were all pretty amazing. There was a "matter of life or death" type of vibe, hard to describe. It got very serious again. I loved that in a way, even though I also know TT was going thru hell playing them ...
And yes we were friends. Although with a mountain of trouble, doubt, work and other issues ahead of us, but we were still all friends, don't believe any attempts to change the past into something it wasn't...

Re: A Doubt
this *may* be a daft question - and I may be branded 'teh n00b' after - but are there any stratovarius dvds knocking about? Ive never seen them, due to me being in england, so a dvd would be pretty awesome! and seriously - black diamond + eagleheart = awesome.

Amazing band, mazing moments
Re: A Doubt
Soon we get some more of those awsome concert moments to expirence.
RMJ has some damm good audio quality. It’s not like 90 percent of the YouTube videos that give a total misrepresentation of the actual performance. Some of the worst quality mixes and audio recordings seem to be what people watch and then act as if that is a representation of a live performance. I’ve been to plenty of concerts where the sound was amazing and clean and then found some video of the sound being distorted beyond recognition and the whole thing sounding like a mess.

Exactly
Some of the videos are good too, I think ^^^ that one's good but the sound quality isn't that great. GREAT solo jens, by the way.

Re: A Doubt
In my own experience, sound is usually what kills a video/dvd. When DVD's are recorded, usually the sound is taken straight from the mixing board, and believe it or not, it sounds terrible!icecab21 wrote:Soon we get some more of those awsome concert moments to expirence.

When I played a show with my former band, the audio that the video camera we used picked up was great! But we also got a signal from the sound board that we recorded, and that sounded like garbage (basically any and all mistakes/imperfections could be heard with the board mix).
I've personally heard the board mixes from plenty of bands (both signed and unsigned) at a popular venue here in NYC...and although they all sounded AWESOME when I heard them live, at home I was quite dissapointed with their performance once I heard that board mix

Re: A Doubt
For me the best I can hope for is that the live show has great energy and that is sounds good then. For me there is so much more to focus on then if the band plays everything perfectly. Last night I saw dragonforce and the sound was great and everything sounded like it was played very cleanly. I watch some of their YouTube videos and it's a complete mess. I think the most amazing thing about their concert is how many calories vadim must burn jumping between all his keyboards and playing everything with his face. The guy could make a hilarious workout video from it all.

Re: A Doubt
Hmm, I guess the source of problem with taking the sound straight from the mixing board must be that the crowd can't be heard. Don't know if that's the problem for you, but for me it is. A real live show includes the crowd as well. Wether a show is great or not depends on the crow itself too, not just the band.

Re: A Doubt
The crowd part depends on the section I guess. At these clubs where I live there is usually some asshole moshpit section where people don't give a shit about each others safety or concert experience. I’m sure the people don't care about the music and just want to hit people since this can be so out of character with the music and the messages of the bands. There is the normal section that gets into the band and the energy and that is fun for me to be in.
