New Stratovarius drummer (your thoughts or preferences)

made in one take after I learned the song the day before.. I do all filming, recording, and production myself.. No editing to the performance, only EQing the drums to get a decent sound..

making a video in a rush when you have time does not sound like the greatest idea i have heard.

im not sure how sound is done in all these videos, but in a lot of them it sounds horrible despite good playing.

Hey Icecab21, there is no date as to when the Audition is over.. So there is no way to know how much time I would have.. In that respect, it would be better to make the video sooner than later.. = good idea..

if your happy with the result then great. you have one up now, if you think you can do a better one, then i would say do so.

by all these m i am referring to pretty much all the ones i have watched. i don't think i have liked any of the kick or snares or other drum sounds in these videos very much.

maybe its the processing, i know the playing is great, i sort of go to the drums on the stratovarius record as for awesome drum sound reference.

And do you know what the band cares regarding this youtube videos? Imho, there's nothing to care about, cause the band won't choose any of these drummers sending videos in youtube. But, who knows, maybe the'll choose one.

Not exactly.
It is common nowadays, there are a lot of ways to get information. Of course, it is not about ego, but it is a way for the band to stay"alive" while they are not touring that much in these months and have almost nothing to say (don't get me wrong, I mean they are thinking about a new album and it is normal if they are not having the same presence than when they are in a world tour). They are looking for a drummer, so they spread the word and of course a lot of people is going to be interested, even when they know that maybe they chose the drummer even before these videos were released. Imo it is a good strategy, but I really doubt some of these drummers we are seeing will end playing in Stratovarius. I suppose they know a lot of drummers and they don't really have an urgent need to search out there. But well, this is just my opinion, maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, it is funny to see these videos.

one may or may not be picked, but if they don't even have a chance and/ or the drummer is already picked, that's dishonest to make a call.

The whole point is that we can guess all we want to but in the end we don't know, the band itself will announce who the next drummer is and until then it's the waiting game.

Even if the band gets only a temporary-live drummer for this show, we should find out really soon from this point on

Somehow that never occured to my mind before :O Hopefully not, they have a small number of shows to do in summer which would serve very well to both get used to each other and find their chemistry on stage. Jens said something about Stratonews soon, and dude, I desperately need them! Waiting sucks, every day a little more
