Hi everyone,
I just come to drop by a little message, that the bass recordings and drums are now finished. You can see pics here: http://symfonia.fi/index.php?id=108

Cheers,

The reason for not releasing any live DVDs was always that the recordings were less than adequate and without a lot of "correcting" in the studio, would not have been good enough for a professional live DVD. This is my opinion. The others might disagree, but at that time I was by the agreement from the whole band, responsible for artistic decisions of Strato and after listening to the material, I did not find that good enough.

As for the Symfonia stuff, it is entirely different case. It is a festival slot of one hour and meant as a bonus with a special edition package with a documentary "making of the album" of the upcoming CD.

Let's suppose I believe you're the real TT (sorry for not trusting you, but here there are like billions of people to pretend to be Tolkki and I'm not sure if you aren't one of those), it doesn't sound too convincing to me. After years of having played with Stratovarius you could have gathered lots of material for a new DVD, plus you had a different relation with the members than now with your new group. Don't get me wrong, it's just hard for me to belive that footage from a newly formed band is better than footage from your old band you've been playing for years

It most likely isn't better! But the usage purpose is entirely different, so mistakes are okay in this respect.
We recorded I think 3 shows and spent a lot of money for those shootings. I was, if I remember right, the only one who refused to release those tapes for the reasons I explained. I don't remember exactly. It was 7 years ago or something.

Now I don't own the tapes so I have no control what is being done with them, or if they want to use them.

But Symfonia gig is just recorded and filmed without that big pressure and out of different usage purpose partially to be shared on our website and partially on the DVD among other things.

Your intention is to say that Symfonia's musicians are "better" than the current line up of Strato. This is basically what your comment is based on.
Well my friend, you are simply wrong in this.

Seems more like a misunderstanding, personally I'm happy for the fact that there will be a DVD released by Symfonia and as far as Stratovarius not releasing one well I never really thought about it until now.

One thing I have learned is that things are what they are, life many times doesn't turn out the way we would like it to.

The fact is Stratovarius has not ever released a live DVD, maybe someday they will but the simple fact is they haven't.

Now we can sit around and play "let's find someone to point the finger at" or we can just hope that sometime we will get a live DVD from Stratovarius.

As far as the news of Symfonia releasing one I am happy to hear it.

please don't take this as me attacking anyone, I'm merely stating what I think and no one has to agree with it.

Well I actually try and think of everyone, however one thing I have learned in life is that when you please one person you tend to piss another off.

However I still try and do my best to be friends with whoever I can.

I'm really happy to know they'll release a pro dvd (please release a blue ray version too, just recorded in 1080i at least). Cause you know, I'm sick of wait and wait and wait to have some, JUST SOME DVD FROM STRATOVARIUS NEW LINE-UP! Something!

I thought that STRATOVARIUS v.9 while producing the CD2 - Elysium- will produce too some DVD and that we'll have some new dvd or something from the making off plus some live stuff with pro recording, so we'll have to wait :(

But if Symfonia release something like that from the very beginning it would be cool. Uploaded if you want to vimeo, but release it on DVD or BR cause the quality is better. I downloaded the videos from Symfonia website in the HD version but still being worst than the original due to compression. I'm really happy to hear Jari again playing with Timo.

stratovarius has to be one of the few bands out there without taking advantange of the DVD´s markets.
Im so sure an "story of stratovarius + Live" dvd will sell out so fast.........like "speed of light"
I guess we´ll have to wait
