Let me add another word from Ukrainian fans.

You in Europe know that doing business with ex-Soviet countries is quite unusual. And the big fault of the promoters is that they had overlooked this fact. I believe they had only the best thoughts about this festival and did not want to rip anybody off, but they became victims of their inexperience. And the fact that they DO communicate with the fans at the moment is a good reason to believe them.

Jens, you mentioned the opposite - that the promoters do not communicate. I am sure this is because of some short-time confusion. The guys are talking to people on forums and on their official website. They did not disappear, they are just in a very, very big trouble. They are not business sharks - just a bunch of enthusiasts who trusted people a bit too much. Please understand this.

I am really sorry that all this happened. I love Stratovarius and I'm disappointed as a fan of yours. But I won't request compensation for my ticket, and neither will many of ukrainian fans. We just want the bands to come to our country and will do everything possible to make a good face for Ukraine!

As we say in México...

"Hijos de puta ladrones, me cago en su madre"

What an unfair thing for both fans and the band itself.
Of course, those hotels are to be avoided now...
No need to feel so afraid, colors last a lifetime and fade to gray...

Hello.I`m from Donetsk(Ukraine).I was in Kiev on weekend.I was expecting Stratovarius very much. :(
It`s shame on our country!!!...I don`t know all details but I love Stratovarius anyway!Even MORE!I`ve written a small poem,it`s not very good but trully describe my inner world now.(I took some phrases from the songs)

I stand alone in the darkness
And I can`t see the way
Why life is so aufull
Why the sky is so grey?

I was allways playing with fire
But the destiny saved all the time
And now I`m feeling so tired
Cause my favourite group haven`t come...

Such a beautiful music
It`s the best in the world
But I value your feelings
And your wonderful words

They helped me forever
They were lighting my way
I was walking through lifetime
With your songs every day

But now I`m in lost
My soul is so dark
I`m looking for greenfield
Inside of my heart...

I read from the Pro Rock site's comment section (via google translate)
It's offtopic, but better use promt.com for translations. Google's translations quality is beyond poor.

Kyiv is not a spectacular place. When I, like Stratovarius, took a walk on the main square in Ukraine, I noticed that there were no metalheads around. Scrutinizing the surroundings, I've also noted that there were no people in black and no people with long hair. I wouldn't say Kyiv is that spectacular - it looks like a vast hamlet with architecture of a city - no offense to Ukrainians. Cops are absolutely unjust and ignorant too.

The audience on the second day couldn't find the information neither on the venue where the cancelled bands were to play nor on that fact that bands were going to play at the venue. But that can be construed as the limitation in the capacity of the venue (limited to 100-200 people, as I have heard).
That clamor of the guard, entering the camping area, typical to a boor, "You have an hour to get out of the camp", was devastating.
Grave Digger, Rotting Christ, Stratovarius, Finntroll, Infinite Tales, audience - all had a dilapidating day-off, if you can say so.

If you play in Ukraine or Russia, you have to ask the promoter who found you to mail or email you the tickets to the plane (a round-way trip), ask for the half of money for the show in advance too, lest you crave to get into similar conditions as Stratovarius. And get in touch with the bands (or read any information about the festivals on their official web-sites) who played at the previous shows of the promoter if it is possible.

A note to all bands: never(!), I repeat, NEVER(!), play for free - some Belorussian, Ukrainian, and Russian bands play at Ukrainian and Russian festivals for free(!!), which is a disgrace for the promoters involved in this, the organizers, the musicians, and the music industry in general. They'd rob the musicians telling them that it's "a promotion for a band to play with [insert a headliner's name here]'. This is pathetic, but it has happened before, as far as I know.

I have no idea what caused the cancellation of the second day at Pro Rock, except for the payment-related problems. The promoter couldn't pay for anything including the stage rent.

Hi, there`s bad news from Ukraine. Official site of Pro Rock fest was closed yesterday for unknown case. But, unfortunately, this fact is not a surprise for us. By the way, there was no moneyback till this moment.
Rock forever!

Khello! My name is Igor Begluzio! I come from the Ukraine. It is very great shame that Stratovarius was not able to attend in the festival. It was a SHAME of our nation. Such a DISHONOR from these HIRCINES is simply appalling. We here in Kiev are very proud of our country and warmly extend the Stratovarius a chance to return. Now I must drink myself into a stupor.

Regards and sorry my english,
Igor from Kiev

I'm turning off the "post by unregistered users" feature on this thread, it seems the discussions are sort of over and it just attracts link spam.

By the way, I heard last night from another source that the story about the FOH tech from Arch Enemy getting robbed at the airport actually was true...
