News from Frontiers Records:
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the worldwide DIGITAL ONLY release of REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE “Ep” on June 2nd 2010.

Timo Tolkki originally composed all the songs included on the debut album for Stratovarius, but after he left, he thought he needed to get the songs he wrote out anyway.

This EP goes back to that tumultuous period in Tolkki’s life and presenting the album track “Heroes”, three songs in acoustic versions, one song in the version sung by Tobias Sammet as opposed to the original vocals appeared on the album from Pasi Rantanen and offers as a special gift three original Stratovarius demo versions of the songs that ended up on the Revolution Renaissance album.

Revolution Renaissance “Ep” tracklisting includes:

01. Heroes (album version)
02. I Did It My Way (Acoustic Remix)
03. Angel (Acoustic Remix)
04. Keep The Flame (Acoustic Remix)
05. We Are Magic (Tobias Sammet version)
06. Last Night On Earth (Stratovarius original demo)
07. Revolution Renaissance (Stratovarius original demo)
08. Heroes (Stratovarius original demo)

The Ep can be purchased via i-Tunes, eMusic, Amazon, Spotify, Napster, Nokia and other fine digital shops.

I did it my way in acoustic version. Nice :-)

Although some Revolution Renaissance songs are very good, I'm glad Stratovarius did not record it. Stratovarius already have some of their own "dorky" songs. No need to add things like "We are Magic" and "Glorious and Divine". I don't care what anyone says those lyrics are cringe worthy.

All of the Stratovarius demos for New Era are already available through less eh....official means anyway aren't they? Pretty sure I got them lying around here somewhere ;p

They aren't "dorky", you just feel uncomfortable listening to them. I personally love We are Magic. I really like the riffs, the melodic solo, and the lyrics which address the mystery and wonder of our metaphysical energy dynamics.

so this ep is only available to buy as a download?

the songs do have messages. not sure what makes them dorky or cringe worthy. its pretty much the problem right there that people only look at such a shallow level at the songs or have such a attitude against the potential that can be brought out if people gave direct attention and application.

There's a difference between the message and how it is expounded and being uncomfortable has nothing to do with it. If I want to show my friend some cool band I'm not going to be blasting "Beauty hand cream shiny blond, Anti wrinkle etc etc" because it just sounds ridiculous in a metal song. It's like Alestorm singing about the Haitian earthquake...but with pirates.

I could go on but I feel there is no need, I doubt either of us could convince the other. However I stand by my main point that while RR's content has some high points, it was not meant for Stratovarius.

I think metal is more about making statements. If the song is about people getting caught up in a materialist society and it sounds silly to mention the products in the song, I think that says something about the products to begin with and the society that rewards the use of beauty products rather than other methods of communication and uses of time and energy.

maybe its not the songs direct message or purpose but things can be taken from it that are about fundamental choices with big implications

Nothing interesting here... Strato demos does not sound good and it's very rare that the acoustic versions of a song sounds interesting.
