Sad news about Revolution Renaissance

Post by method » Wed Jul 28, 2010 6:00 pm

"Due to my private problems, the lack of interest in
Revolution Renaissance shows by the promoters, and the current situation in the
music industry that affects to everything including the production budgets, it
has become impossible to continue the band.

We have tried to book shows in these last three years, but
we haven't been able to do so. A rock band cannot exist without direct contact
to its fans. Therefore, I have no other choice but to make the decision to stop
the band and its activities due to the above mentioned reasons.

The third and final album of the band will be released at
the end of September.
From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank all the
fans of my music throughout the years. It's been a great journey.
"

All
the best, Timo Tolkki

Somehow, I knew this could happen, lack of shows, lack interesting of all parts,no news. I think if Timo really wanted to give it a try to touring, might have been easier, remember the failed tour with Sonata Arctica for example, also the albums were not that spectacular. We'll see with Trinity...Really sad news, lets see what happens

:( I think that sucks. I really hoped that TT would get his music career back on track. Really looking forward to the last album though.

it is a real decline of a great musician of the past. to see it happens is very sad. One day he was the mastermind of Stratovarius. Another day he lost everything. it is life, though.

I wish there was another way.
Well one way or another he will most likely keep on making music. Yet I am not sure how much of it he will release.

This is sad news, I surprisingly enjoyed the RR albums. I hope this doesn't mean he won't release 'Return to Dreamspace' (or whatever the current projectname is.
But on the upside, we have a releasedate for the third RR album.

After rethinking it...
Why can TT shut it down on his own?
Why didn't this appear on the RR myspace?

Anyway, still sad.

timo thought RR would have the same success as stratovarius just because he is in the band, but a new band will always have to do a great job to achieve this success

Are you fucking kidding me? It was Tolkki HIMSELF who turned down the offer to tour With Sonata Arctica, which is probably the hottest band from Finnland right now after Nightwish, and he bitches about not getting booked for any gigs? Well, we get the album at least...Put it is kinda sad for the other guys in the band who probably thought that they landed the gig of their life's playing with Timo Tolkki.

^ I heard that somewhere too but I'm not sure if it's true. I think he said the only gig he ever refused was an opening gig for Maiden in India (30 min), it would've been a one time show and he would've had to play before someone related to maiden (harris' daughter or something along those lines)

I think Mike Khalilov or Justin Biggs posted it here after they were kicked out of the band.

^ you're right, Timo I think said the record companies wouldn't support the tour financially (cost was estimated to be 50,000 euro?) I thought RR renewed their contract with a three album deal? You guys remember that?

That's the question..

Tolkki said that he most likely won't sing on the album but than again if it's the old line-up who would?

I believe this is not the end of music carrer of Tolkki. Anyway it is strange that musician which has great skills, many, many years was a leader of one of the most popular power metal band wrote about lack of interest. I think he, unfortunately, left your respectability in some time ago trying to change something. If you left from good band to do something new, you can achieve success but it is big probability that you will lose. It is just risk.
Maybe guys recruit Timo as a new rhythm guitar player in Strato :)

I agree with the Ragehead. Too bad for the other guys who wanted to play with Timo.

That would not turn out well if TT returned to Strato.

Well, the whole reason behing "Project Strato" was to revive the old days with the old line-Up. It wouldn't be the same without TT singing.

Wow... this is... sad

I mean, the only live shows we got were those from the guitar clinics in South America, but I'm just kindda worried for Timo... because they signed a 3 year contract with Napalm, do you remember?
I don't really know anything about it, but if the band is unable to do what the contract says, won't they want to get money as an indemnification or something?

Also, what if the last album turns out to be a master piece and sells like hot bread? Although I think that's a bit unlikely, but still, anything could happen.

I just will say that for whay Timo T. represents for me in my life, I really hope he will continue to make great music, and that he finds a real way to do this, because with so much bad music today, it would really be terrible if he stoped making music.

I can only hope that that "Project Strato" thing will work, and who knows, maybe a new band could come out of that, I really don't know but these are certainly bad news.
No need to feel so afraid, colors last a lifetime and fade to gray...

Well, there are other possibilities in music besides musician. He is a terrific producer, and songwriter, and he still can make guest appearances. So, TT can still do very well in the music field.
