Stratovarius Community

I guess it probably passed under the radar for a lot of people, but Syu (the guitarist from Galneryus) released an album of metal covers about two weeks ago. A pretty enjoyable album, and among the songs is the Stratovarius song "Against The Wind". Thought I would throw it up on youtube so everyone could check it out.

Well, the Galneryus myspace page says their material was recently put up on iTunes, but I don't see any of that and not Syu's either so... :p You can order from amazon.co.jp, but 3500 yen is about $43 USD apparently so not very appealling either. Ugh.

Well Play-asia.com has all the Galneryus-stuff for sale much cheaper. I have bought all of their recent albums there.

The new one, Resurrection is the first one after the little break they had and has a new vocalist. It's a nice album, tho not too memorable. Sho does good job with 'Against the Wind' too, but I still like the old vocalist more for now.

I've never liked Syu...
I think he "overplays" the songs and they just sound artificial to me... that's what I think.

Do you guys remember the cover of Black Diamond by Galneryus? I HATE so much the guitar solo on that cover.

And well, to me Against the Wind is a so sacred old Strato classic... This time the guitar wasn't that bad... to me at least, but I didn't really like it.

There's also a video with Syu and Jani Liimatainen and well... Syu is not even close to Jani I think.

I don't like his style but well xD... it was fun to listen to.

The guitar style is...interesting; the singing feels so strange though. But it's a cover, so I can't complain about anything

Awesome cover! I love Syu's playing; it's very clean,controlled and technical! I liked the different take on the song! The singer's not bad either, you just gotta not compare him to Kotipelto's voice to hear the beauty of it

Normally I don't like coveralbums. I haven't heard this one but unusually good choices of covers!

Have you guys seen the video where Syu plays with Jani, the OUTFIT bwahahaha.
