This isn't a translation though, I heard the same thing "From the horses mouth" so to speak.
With this are you saying Jens is getting tired of the band and wants to quit?
No, I'm talking about Jari's dismissal

I still don't understand how Jari's dismissal happened. Is the reason allready known?

Tolkki contacted the other members out of the blue and said "Either we're getting rid of Jari or I'm leaving"

^No, he isn't joking. i've read that aswell.
That's why i find it so odd that Jari joined Symfonia. but who knows what the hell really happened during those times.

Hmm, in all honesty I'm pretty disappointed.

Sure the musicianship is awesome but I lack good songwriting. Infernal maze is good songwriting, but alot of the songs are just so-so imo. Rewashed power metal stuff without any really memorable melodies/choruses etc. I like move the mountain though, a great emotional song.

Darkest hours is a very standard strato single, but more boring than I walk to my own song, Eagleheart or Hunting high and low. I wanna hear Kotipelto with better vocal lines and production, vocals-wise.

imho, Cain's offerings album was 10 times better, and in my dreams it would've been the new Stratovarius album.

The songs just aren't that good I think. Very mediocre

Don't flame me do death I'm just being honest :) And I didn't like Polaris that much either. Something is lacking; maybe it's the Tolkki factor.

Is a bassist really that big of an expense though? I mean they probably paid Lauri about the same as they paid Jari, right? Jens tells the story there in that interview though, and I've heard it other places too. Just strange

It depends on the bassist also. When the band first got Lauri, he wasn't that much known, so was Jari when TT hired him. Now both of them are very well known in the metal community; it would happen the same if someday (let's hope not, never :)) Lauri decides to leave the band and it's contracted by another

It's not that, it's just that Jari had been with the band for 12 years, and had no place in the creative process, what did Tolkki hate?

I totally disagree. I love TK's vocals this time, really don't see that much of a difference to his great vocals on Gather the Faithful. And in no way could Gather the Faithful have been the new Stratovarius, it's a very good album, but to me it has a completely different vibe, didn't touch me that much and has no "Stratovarius-feeling" at all. Whereas Elysium still has the elements that make a good Stratovarius, but improved with fresh ideas, more power and new passion.

Whatever, in the end it's all about what you like and what not, so I'm okay with your opinion, but I don't share it at all :)

Yeah I like his vocals too, but the vocal lines could've been more creative. In many old strato songs I noticed the vocal melodies bring the song forward and the music is accompaning. At least in verse/chorus

The difference with Gather the faithful imo, is basically that there were awesome songwriting on that record, compared to Elysium.

Kupiainen is a sick guitarist no doubt, but I think his guitarwork sometimes takes away from Kotis vocal melodies and theres more good guitarwork than good songs.

Imo, that is.

That's because both albums may have different songwriters?
