Finnish Power Metal fest
So I get bored and create festival lineups sometimes. But how cool would it be to get all the legends of finnish power metal together for one festival.

Stage one should start earlier.Rebel wrote:although it would suck to choose between Thunderstone and Sonata Arctica
Like this Stage One: 18:00
Stage two: (first band) 18:30
Stage two: (second band) 19:15
Re: Finnish Power Metal fest
Nightwish? Power metal? I don't think so. Honestly, don't devote Stratovarius and other legendary bands by putting em on the same list. Name one Nightwish song that fulfills the requirements of metal music(cool riffs, nice keyboard playing, double bass moshing...)
TBH I hate everyone here in Finland thinks Nightwish is the best metal band of the country.

Nightwish's oceanborn album is power metalish.Tarhaea wrote:Nightwish? Power metal? I don't think so. Honestly, don't devote Stratovarius and other legendary bands by putting em on the same list. The songs Stargazers and The Pharaoh Sails to Orion.
also, everyone in finland think nightwish is the best metal band of the country? really? dont get me wrong I LOVE nightwish but I find that sort of surprising considering the other finish bands.
Re: Finnish Power Metal fest
Since when did it have to be double bass to be metal or power metal?
For one per album
elvenpath
stargazers
fantasmic
dead to the world
planet hell
seven days to the wolves
The who concept of "best" is a joke. Every band is different and apples and oranges, if we go by best selling, then nightwish gets that award, if we go by best musicians, a different band gets it, if we go by other factors some other band gets any number of it.

There are thousands of little Tarja wannabes who think they can sing like her.
Nightwish is almost like basic education here.
And of course they are getting both bashed and loved for that.

Double bass has always been one of the main characteristicts of power metal.icecab21 wrote:Since when did it have to be double bass to be metal or power metal?

Yeah as we still need Leverage, Kiuas, (Symfonia that you forgot), possibly Thaurorod, Winterborn and so on.ggonza43 wrote:Night One:

With Warmen and maybe Hammerfall instead of your night 2 choices, this would be a weekend I'd probably give everything I have for.ggonza43 wrote:Night One:

Good chances I'd also do that just for a Sinergy show though. I'd travel through hell and back for that.

Re: Finnish Power Metal fest
I overread the "Finnish"... Sorry. OK then, forget Hammerfall. Let Sinergy play twice instead.

they got 4 albums, Invitation, Divinity, the Fallen Empire, a compliation and the new one called Unholy .Kecos wrote:The singer on their Eternity album is amazing. the first singer was the singer of requiem,Jouni nikoula (or something like that), he was awesome I really like it.
then; Taage Laiho sings on divinity and Fallen empire, I like divinity. fallen empire has cool but not really an inspired album. in my opinion.
and finally the unholy album, i heard some samples in his home site, and sounds very cool, I havent been able to buy it yet.

Oceanborn was released in December 98 in Finland, the same year destiny came out. Oceanborn doesn't sound like Stratovarius at all. Love both bands, but sometimes I think people give stratovarius too much credit.Kecos wrote: Oceanborn is full of Strato-worship

Re: Finnish Power Metal fest
Around a year or two ago I got a handful of not-so-legal dvd movies from not-so-illegal sources, it was heaven. Imagine the face of a salvadorean child when he found a not-so-readable copy of the hungarian masterpiece Kontroll while rumagging violently on a sunday morning. It felt like christmas day and penis inspection day all at the same time. Apart from other not-so-innocent titles, he also found the inscription "V niin kuin verikosto" in what seemed to be an obscure east-european hardcore-porn DVD. OH the surprise when it turned out to be a shitty version of "V for vendetta" with some not-so-understandable subtitles. It kept me up for weeks the thought of such a fucked up language, until I found out it was finnish.mayhem-for-all wrote:Whats that for?AGAG wrote:V NIIN KUIN VERIKOSTOmayhem-for-all wrote:Now you're talking!Night 3:

No, you are wrong . Ensiferum, Wintersun and Kalmah. That would be the right trio. A super trio actually.

In an interview that is on a dvd somewhere Tuomas himself said that Strato was a big influence on that album.Burning Reflection wrote:Oceanborn was released in December 98 in Finland, the same year Destiny came out. Re: Finnish Power Metal fest
yeah , was on their dvd End of Innocence he even shows what is seems to be a finnish paper, where the "stratovarius is a big influence" is written.rikkertje wrote:In an interview that is on a dvd somewhere Tuomas himself said that Strato was a big influence on that album.Burning Reflection wrote:Oceanborn was released in December 98 in Finland, the same year Destiny came out. and I think everybody pretty much agree that maybe not the whole album, but the strato feelin is very upfront in oceanborn.
