About Elysium

I want to share with you (only if you're interested) my humble opinion about Stratovarius new album, I've already listened to the album like 10 times from track 1 to the end of the acoustic guitar in "elysium". I have to say that in overall it's an improvment in every level, I think Matias made this band sound like a hughe masive huracan, Jorg evolved his drumming, I heard stuff never played before from him, Timo's vocals are just fresh, if you listen to the whole Elysium song, you can hear a total new level in his voice, I was so happy about that, he can still sing very well, also something particular is that the songs from Jens, Lauri and Timo are just so much better than Polaris ones, Lifetime in a moment made me bristle, it's such a good song. From what I hear, the lyrics have improved remarkably, there so much emotion in every song, as you can see I'm extremely happy with the album, Matias is just a Genius, he brought new life to this band in a huge way. I'm looking forward for more albums, I will definitely buy this album and when I do I'll post a photo showing my trophy.
Elisyium is true work of art in the metal industry, brings hope to the future of the band, and gives me enormous joy to hear

After three full listening session of this new album, i have to agree with you. Matthias is the best thing that could happen to the band after Tolkki's departure, though the "Elysium" song is not clear not me anymore. I think that a lot of listening will be necessary to fully understand and analyze this song.

Great album! What a masterpiece.

Favorite songs: Lifetime In a Moment, Fairness Justified, Under Flaming Skies, Move The Mountain and Event Horizon.

Those songs should definitely be played live! :D

And I do hope they will use backing tapes again. Because when they would play Lifetime In a Moment in concert it really needs the Gregorian choir thingy. And Fairness Justified really needs the choir in the chorus.

Yes it's probably Castaway, but in the review of Elysium is wrote that Castaway is a speed song and the riff in the video is not so fast, I think that is Last Shore.
Metropolitan legends tell that Lauri Porra is the writer of Last Shore and Hallowed, but I think that is the writer of Last Shore and Hallowed it's wrote by Matias.

I hope it's a demo song. The piece of Under Flaming Skies at the end isn't the same of the album one, it's the demo. That could be the demo of a song, but surely won't be. It fits with Event Horizon.

So high scores fort the songs on Polaris???

That makes me wonder if the new album is THAT good... I really hope so. I think that both Darkest hous and Infernal maze is better than all songs on Polaris I guess.

What i can hear from youtube very very good stuff.
Hmm i wait for the CD because the qualitiy might be better. But is it just me or are the vocals compared to the instruments not loud enough or lets say instruments are too loud ?? This arent really leadvocals for me.
And what i miss is somehow the feeling which touches me in this songs.
Is the feeling gone ? Maybe i get old.

Polaris was the transition to a new style, and is awesome, now Elysium comes to confirm the new way to do Stratovarius music, it gets better with each album.

Best song for me is The Game Never Ends

PD: WE NEVER DIE :music: !

I have to admit I haven't heard the bonus stuff yet, and I feel bad for pirating the album in advance, but I was already going to import a copy anyway. I just couldn't wait after reading the other reviews from people on this site.

And I wholeheartedly agree... Matias helped completely revive Stratovarius, as well as Lauri. And while I loved Polaris, I've already listened to Elysium about five times tonight in a constant loop... and this kicks the shit out of Polaris. It has that new Stratovarius sound, but songs like The Game Never Ends has that amazing catchiness that I loved so much from earlier Stratovarius albums. The other songs have that great bombast (like Fairness Justified) without going overboard. Move the Mountain is an excellent ballad, one of the best they've done in years... Timo's vocals are amazing on that. They're actually spectacular on the whole album, I think - I'm not disappointed with his performance at all.

And Elysium.. well, fuck me sideways, those last few minutes are just pure musical beauty.

Well fucking done Stratovarius! Polaris was awesome, but this is what we really call a comeback!

I think just the song Elysium alone puts Stratovarius into something MUCH bigger than it's been for years.
