I think it's very strange some people here are thinking they hear a differens if they tuned down a half step. Some asshole claims he think it sounds awful. What a coplete idiot! I'm sure he can't hear the difference in case you give him a blind test. It's just a way to make himself impotrant and pretend to have talent. Give Timo a fucking break!
And besides the band is tuned to Eb normally anyways. You retard's sensitive ears should have complained in the first place then. Oh, how I hate untalented fucks that try to make themselves important. Timo fucking rules...OK. End of story. And if he ever sing a bit weak you morons don't hear it anyways. End of story. Period. Full stop.

Re: Tuning of the band.
Every musical note has a character all its own and so every musical key has a character all its own and not everyone is going to like all of those sounds.
For example an F# note is often thought to be a bit nasty sounding and piano tuners supposedly have trouble getting it right because they don't think it sounds good even when they do get it right.
Tuning down a half step means you're replacing G with F# (Gb) so some people aren't going to like that sound.

I'm betting that even if you're not a musician, you can still notice a difference when bands switches from Eb to D-tuning, even if it's just a vague feeling that "there's something different about this song..." But if the singer has problems performing it in the original key, I say go for it.
