Stratovarius
Drummer wanted!

We have now played the final Latin America gigs with Jörg Michael, who is leaving the band after 16 years. 2011 started with the release of the "Elysium" album and was a long year with a long world tour together with Helloween. After some time off, we are now looking to the future, composing material for the next album, and we are also looking for the next drummer.

We have some great candidates already, but since we have a bit of time, we decided to also cast a wider net to see what comes up. So, if you have some touring and recording experience, are - more important - musical and hard hitting, and - most important - a nice dude, you might be the one we are looking for!

If you think this sounds like you, playing in a world famous metal band for a living sounds like something you'd enjoy, and if you want us to listen, please put on some headphones and record a video of yourself playing any of these three Stratovarius songs: Coming Home, Father Time or Deep Unknown. You can for instance upload them to youtube.

Send the video links and a short letter with your personal information to this email address: drummer@stratovarius.com

What do you have to lose? The world awaits you! Plus money, fame, great times, and all the beer you can drink.

With best regards,
Jens, Lauri, Matias and Timo

Just saw it on fb. Wow, since quite some time already passed, I wouldn't have thought they'd actually start a public call, seems kinda late to me - probably cause I looooooong to know who it's gonna be lol
Well, good luck to all them candidates out there!! Hope the guys find a really cool and nice and skilled one :)

I am sure that they have selected one drummer for sure. Stratovarius has booked some summer festival concerts, and probably during this month they will book some more. This could not be possible without having the security that there will be a full time new drummer.

The fact is that probably they want to involucrate fans with the band, it's good to try to show to the fans that the band is trying to interact with them (We have seen it with the poll about the DVD's possible name). And of course, if during this time appears a very skilled unknown drummer, why not?

PS: I have noticed that in Facebook there's a big support for Alex Landenburg skills, I am happy that people has recognized his work during Jörg's illness!!

Haven't read the thread so I don't know if he's been mentioned already but this guy could really take Stratovarius to the next level.

I've watched them as well and they are both very good, it will be interested to see who gets that coveted vacant spot in the drummers seat.

I really don't want to watch the audition videos because I want to be surprised when the new drummer is replaced. I don't want to have any biases towards someone, and then be disappointed if that person happens not to be chosen. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

There indeed are a few videos on tube, just look for "stratovarius audition".

This was quite good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEL2zrixokE (mainly because the set looks small so the movements are emphasized)

Although my favorite is Alex. It's just not about that you are good to play but it should also look good to the audience and The Chosen One should be a friendly person (not that the other candidates wouldn't be, I don't know them but Alex I do know to be a nice person).

All of them seem really good, though I will admit my favorites so far have been Michael Brush and Kostas Milonas.

I'm going to pick AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Between Jens' toilet explostions and AAA(...)'s strange behavior on the metro, Strato would have one hell of a DVD in the making!

I like them both the best from the YT auditions so far...

The first one a little more. Doesn't he look A LITTLE like 2005 Tolkki? ._.

But I have to admit that Alex is still my favorite...

Check out the Coming home video, I especially liked that one cause he was able to do it without the music.
