That was really good, all of those songs he did really well. I thought it was cool he included some that weren't even mentioned.

Mike Portnoy will be the new drummer of Stratovarius. Cool!

Mike Portnoy's a good drummer, but from what I've seen from Dream Theater, he's a complete control freak who needs total control over everything and he keeps making statements over the band these days being far worse.

Reminds me of a certain someone.

Well, DT was Mike's band. He was one of the founding members, so I don't think the same thing would happen if he came into a band that was already well-established. But I know it's a long shot anyway, since DT and Strato have many differences musically that probably wouldn't translate well together. :(

^Well, Lauri and Mattias have been awesome additions to the band; so what harm would more "young blood" do? Younger folks tend to be more enthusiastic and more open to new ideas, and that can *never* be a bad thing!

From all the videos I've seen, Roland looks like a very realistic option.

I can see that in the end the final choice is going to be a hard one considering the talent we've already seen.

I'm not sure how much life Stratovarius has left in it, it's obviously been more than I would have given it credit for, but I'd say another 5-6 years down the road and we might expect a farewell tour, however, I really hope that Matias, Lauri, and whoever the new drummer is stick together in some future power metal project, because that would be a really cool legacy.
They let us have signatures on this forum???

Please take this in the spirit it is meant Rebel but DAMN you are a killjoy. Maybe just maybe the new drummer will bring something good to the table and we will still get awesome music.

Once again I'm not trying to be mean however I really think it's still too early to be predicting the demise of this band.

New drummer should be Aquiles Priester. He's the guy for Stratovarius.

If that's the case, then they will have survived nearly 10 years without Tolkki, and I would say that's a whole lot more than a lot of people would have ever expected.

i'm sure the band can just go on and on replacing member after member when they decide to leave. there is only 1 member from the bands 4th album and only 2 from the 5th so its' not much of a stretch to just keep on going.

In Jörg Michael's words...
"Stratovarius is biger than any of the members it could ever have, and it will always be there for you"

Very much true, however and this is just my opinion I think that Timo K and Jens aren't going anywhere.

Both of them love this band and the music it creates.

there is always a key member in any band, and drummers are something to care about, to name a few, Steven Adler, John "bonzo" Bohnam, Keith Moon, Cozy Powell...no band (guns and roses, Led zep, the who, rainbow) survived too long without THE drummer, and of course I would like to place my bets on the strato survival ..but I think I would keep my money.
