Stratovarius plays an interactive online show

Staying at home can be a real choice if you want to experience live music. Stratovarius, the Finnish power metal wonder, is next up playing for a global audience at an interactive online gig on 20th November. It is also a chance for the fans to say ‘farewell’ to drummer Jörg Michael, who is leaving the band soon.

www.LiveMusicStage.com lets people become part of live music events on the web. The living room is the stage, with your TV or laptop showing a global online crowd and a high-quality live stream of the show. You can chat and make friends, applaud, swing a lighter, vote for songs to be played and more. The band members see all that live and talk back to the audience between songs.

The next band to perform for their global fan base is Stratovarius, the Finnish power metal wonder. They are playing at a unique studio setting. The bands long-time drummer, Jörg Michael, is soon leaving the group.

– “It feels great to have a chance to say goodbye to all the Finns, friends and fans I have met over the past 15 years. These last shows will be very special to me, as I never forget the support we, and especially I, got through the years. Having the opportunity to broadcast live to all the fans around the world will be an extra motivation for the band. I can promise a very special set list which we have never played before. Watch out and check it”, says Michael.

Fans and bands together

The leading idea behind LiveMusicStage.com is to let everybody with broadband access to take part in real live shows.

– “In the 24/7 on-demand era, it is exciting to pause for an hour and participate in something together as a community. One advantage to regular shows is that you can actually choose where you take part,” depicts Antti Eronen, CEO of LiveMusicStage.com. On top of music, there’s an interview with the band. The audience can also chat with drummer Jörg Michael after the show.

Stratovarius plays at LiveMusicStage.com on Sunday 20th November. Tickets cost 10€. Check your local time for the event and a demo page (goo.gl/ZE1tW) at the site.

There are a limited number of 10,000 tickets available to the show.

Awesome!!! Nothing compared to a "real" live gig of course, but still great idea to reach a few more fans to say goodbye.
Show nr. 4 in 20 days, lucky me :D Can't wait to see that very special setlist!

Not enough band-width. Har-har. Actually that is the reason.

Hi guys, seems that there's quite some interest for the show :) Just to answer a couple of your questions and concerns:

- There's a limited amount of tickets on sale, because we want to make sure the band and the audience can still communicate live (eg. through the chat). So actually it's not a bandwidth issue this time :)

- Bockrocker: The demo video is only about 20 sec long, is that what you're referring to? As crazy as it sounds, the live stream can be actually smoother than the on-demand demo page, since it uses different kind of buffering. We've heard reports of people watching through a whole show with no problems on a 1Mb/s connection.

- If you want to enjoy smooth video performance, it's best to keep other programs and browser windows to a minimum. They can actually slow down your frame rate, at least on older computers.

- We haven't yet published a poll for the songs to be voted, no worries :)

- And hey, if you had trouble buying tickets, please let us know by sending an email to info (-at-) livemusicstage.com

I would like to hereby announce to the world wide web that I will be attending this Stratovarius concert as yesterday I finally decided to listen to one of their songs. Although it was nothing but noise to my sophisticated British ears, I found that it helped me regurgitate some of my lunch. This was useful because I was able to eat that bean burrito for a second time. HUH!
