STRATOVARIUS VIDEO CONTEST & NEMESIS 2LP EDITION ANNOUNCED


After the success of "Polaris” and “Elysium” and the warm response to the CD/DVD/Blu-Ray “Live In Tampere” that witnessed one show of the band’s last world tour with friend and historical drummer Jörg Michael, Stratovarius are about to reinforce their position as one of the undisputed leading name of the prog-symphonic metal genre with an album that promise to be one of their best ever.

You can sense it in the air that their new CD “Nemesis” is going to be a milestone in their career, judging by the fantastic reaction to the few bits and beats that – as it happens today – have leaked in the world of bits and beats of internet.
...to the extent that the band entered the studio again, only a few weeks after having completed the album, to record an additional song they had been working on for a while.
The acoustic ballad “Old Man And The Sea” will be an extra track included in a 2.000 numbered limited edition vinyl of their new album.

With “Nemesis” two months from release, Stratovarius will soon shoot the first video clip from the album. The band is willing to involve their fans into the filming process. As singer Timo Kotipelto explains in the short clip here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLma7556l3o .

Fans are invited to send a picture of their most precious Stratovarius fan item to: win_earmusic<at>edel.com.
T-Shirts, a signed concert poster, drawings, CDs official or… not, self-made shirts, flags or anything that they feel is rare or unique related to any phase or moment of the band’s long history. The possibilities are endless!
The band will select the most original and fun fan items to be featured in their new video. Deadline to send in photos is January 23rd.
All received items will be returned in mint condition.

The most original objects will be featured in the video.

On top of the newly announced 2LP Edition, “Nemesis” will be released on February 22nd, 2013 via earMUSIC as a 11 tracks CD and as a Special Edition 13 tracks Hardcover CD.

But seriously, another song which is only released as vinyl? Oh c'mon... then we have one song only on Japanese release, and another one only on vinyl, that's not very nice Hope I may officially buy them as mp3 at least...

So, as the major part of the bans lately do, they maybe will record two clips... Anyway, good idea, I really like how the things are going those years, those months,... I am really happy with it! I'm afraid I can't send anything special: shirts, the ordinary CDs... anyway, It's an excellent Idea!

Well, in the end 15 songs in a row! It does not matter if this one is in a vinyl, we could have a 13-track album and then buy the others individually! A lot of work, we have now 3 Bonus Tracks and a Limited Edition Vinyl Bonus track + the 11 ordinary tracks! They have ( I guess mostly Matias hehe) worked hard! Well done

Well, it is not about buying or not, cause we are going to be the same person spending 20€ more or 20€ less.
This is an old story (the same happened with Castaway and Last Shore). Castaway was better imo that some songs in the final album and you can just found this two songs with bad quality around inet. Not everybody can play the vinyl version. I mean, I don't have a vinyl player (of course I could go to another house and play it), but that's just nonsense. And I'm not gonna buy a player just for one song. I want cds for my home and car and I want to have the mp3 version in my mp3 player. It is the most common nowadays. I'm not saying "no to vinyl verions". I'm just saying it is a complete shit to have a song in the vinyl version and not in the cd version. Of course this is just to sell more articles, anyway, they will sell the same cause people will download that song from internet. It is a really bad move imho. But well, we discussed this a lot when Elysium came out and I really disagree with earmusic in this case.

guys, they got to make the vinyl a little more interesting to buy, lets be honest here and say that if you have the cd with the same track list as the vinyl you wouldnt buy the vinyl, is a gimmick, a valid one i must say because is you gonna spend a little extra money you should have some unique in return.

I'm always honest. I bought the vinyl when Elysium came out just to say, "well I have the vinyl version too and it's cool to see in my collection". But now I'm not gonna buy the vinyl, with ot without more songs.So I'd prefere to have a megasuperspecial edition by 100€ with the whole songs and the whole extras all together and not in different articles. I disagree completely with companies doing this and I won't buy something I don't agree. Once maybe, but now again...nope.

totally, this kind of stuff certainly has it pros and cons, mostly because Vinyls and special stuff are branded as "Collector Items" so from the get go it is not for everyone nor for the casual listener.
you gotta remember that all this gimmicks are derived from the state of the music industry today, in fact vinyl has come to the rescue of record sales (first because their "vitange" tag (hipster thing), then from the DJs and now classic remasters and stuff like that)
so, it is necessary? i might agree that, at least for me, no, are they an extra effort by the band & the label to put something interesting and totally collectable out there increase record sales and hopefully gain more fans?, i´d say yes!

some of this items are out of reach for me, but if i were living in europe for example i will be one of those dedicated fans of stratovarius and i will buy anything they release, the same album twice, vinyl, rare items and what not

I agree with you. But also consider that the vast majority of Strato fans do not care if they are missing one or two songs. We are a different breed...

I wish I hadn't lost that signed setlist...
