Everything the band says is spot on. Apparently Ear doesn't want reviews published until closer to the release, but the band does a really good job of describing the album in that vid

This is so damn good... I need more time with it, but it's once again really fresh powerful music.

The songs really give me a Destiny/Infinite vibe. Sounds like this is the album that could've been released in stead of Elements! I LOVE it!

Feeding The Fire should definitely replace Paradise on future setlists! Same kind of song, same topic, but a much stronger song.

:P I totally agree- after a few years, Paradise has lost its shine and luster from them playing it so much! There are few other songs that aren't as shiny!

True. But I feel there is so much potential in this album to refresh the setlist. Hope they'll take this chance!

God dammit, I am ashamed that I broke my vow and listened before the album came out. I couldn't resist. Those fucking songs are going to be blaring out of my car for a good long while. My Eternal Dream and Rise Above It, holy shit, CLASSIC STRATOVARIUS.

Eternal is going to fucking rock!

I know right! Wait till you hear Few Are Those. If the guys play it enough it can and will be the new Hunting High and Low!

The My eternal dream chorus horns melody sounds like it could be directly taken from a rhapsody album. :D

I fucking love that noise. I don't think many bands could get away with that type of thing even with power metal but it just works with Stratovarius's sound so well. It sounds like a tune from the Infinite days. Me gusta. Me gusta mucho.

I liked the melodies when they used to play the song with energy. Now it's just a lackluster mandatory setlist song. Sounds boring and TK isn't able to bring that chorus to full power anymore.

I love every bit of these new melodies more than the old ones because they really fit to his voice these days. Listen to the live version of My Eternal Dream. He sings it flawless! :D

I am sooooo ready for this release.....I order my Japanese version hoping that they may ship it out prior to the release. I have bought two copies plus a digital version. They are keeping this one under wraps as long as they can..... I remember Nemesis leaked like 2 or 3 weeks before.

Exactly! I wish for this to not leak though. It's only three days from now.
But the excitement is high. Dunno if I can hold myself back if it would leak before that.

Nice review!
And because of it I want to have Eternal in my hands even more!

The first thing I thought when I got through Nemesis for the first time was "this was f*cking great, but al this experimentation really calls for a more back to the roots kind of approach on the next one."

And apparently that is what they did!

They actually put the album available for download on Japanese Amazon last night, I've listened to it today.
Well, I liked it a lot. I think I was a bit more excited about Nemesis, but that is because all those experiments seemed intriguing. Here we have a very classic Stratovarius, although, I think, it is impossible to mistake any track from Eternal for some lost old era song.
I was kinda afraid that Eternal would remain in shadow of the magnificent Stormcrow this year, but Eternal is totally on par. Still, Jani's presence can be felt throughout the album. I haven't seen the credits, but he must have penned several songs. Few Are Those definitely sounds like his work.
My personal highlights are the title track, Rise Above It, In My Line of Work and Few Are Those. Man in the Mirror also stands out, the most modern track on the album, sounds like something between Lifetime in a Moment and Gypsy In Me. Bet it's written by Jens.

Thanks for sharing your early impressions of the album! :)
I've read on an interview today that Shine in the Dark, In My Line of Work and Few are Those are the Koti-Liimatainen songs of the album. So, you were quite accurate :) And yes, Man in the Mirror was written by Jens :)

FEW ARE THOSE!!!

The chorus is practically Hunting High And Low. I hope they play it live. For me they should play everything except the ballad and Lost Saga live!
