i think its tolkki because he put his heart on his guitar.....plus he has a great alternate picking technic...what is your opinion?

like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert and Yngwie Malmsteen...
i dun think Tolkki had reached their level yet...
but...

Tolkki is still one of the greatest guitarist that i had known so far

And, Andrew Bordoni of the band, Earthcubed, is really good, too...So is Chris Poland(he plays for Megadth once again!).

Yeah, I have to say too that Laiho is the best

well Petrucci actually is one of the top guitarist because of his thechnique.

He has developed every aspect of guitar playing.

He can play fast,he can play slowly,had good melody etc...
But i still don't like his style.

Romeo and Tolkki are more Malmsteenian even if i think romeo is clearer in thechnique than tolkki.
You can see the difference in the way they move they're fingers on the guitar.

So,if i have to speak in thechnique i will say:

- petrucci
- romeo
- tolkki.

If i have to speak for me,for the style etc...

- tolkki
- romeo
- petrucci

I think all those guitarists are superior in their own way but I wouldn't even try to put them in any specific order.

Now if you would've had Alexi Laiho of Children of Bodom listed as one of the three, then the decision would've been a bit easier cause WildChild is a maniac with his guitar. Just my opinion.

No, but i think Petrucci is very impressive, he can really play a wide range of different styles, not just metal or neo classical stuff but also Jazz and Blues elements and very emotional parts (on the older albums), so i think i would vote for him

there are so many great, unique guitar players out there, this question is senseless

well...considerating the three mentioned is Romeo...tolkki and petrucci is cool....but c´mon...that fat guy play like hell....romeo kick ass!!! did you all watched his guitarlesson video??? he kills....

ow c`mon andre olbrich is best anyway...

but from the guys petrucci is best...he can play almost everything...

I think it is Timo Tokki because he can play
melodic and speed parts in the same time..

he is a perfectionist

But I think Kirk Hammet and Slash are very good guitar players too :crazy1:

I don't know all the guitar players are very special and very skilled in there own way so it's very hard to relay to the topic but if I had to chose it would have to be tolkki because even though I like Dream Theater. There newalbums aren't as good as there other ones so TOLKKI all the way

Although Romeo is more technical than Tolkki I feel Tolkki is a much better songwriter (keep in mind I love Symphony X too) and songwriting is always first in my book. I also feel Timo is more emotional than Romeo too

Petrucci's just overrated so I don't talk much about him although I do like a select few Dream Theater albums ...

Esteban is a great Hispanic guitarist.

From the Past, I have to say the Late Jim Croce can't hardly be beat! I saw a special last night on APT/PBS, and i had also forgotten what a great songwriter/guitar player he was! He was VERY popular when I was a child until a plane crash took his life at only 30 years old(I think).

His greatest songs were: Lover's Cross, Time in a Bottle, Bad Bad LeRoy Brown etc. etc. Many Songs still being played today after 30 years of his death.

Richie Blackmore!!! Yngwie alway says you have guitar players and guitar owners.Imo Blackmore is still the the best!!

TOLKKI!!without a doubt.He gets all the sentiment on his guitar,draws tears from her,it´s impressive!!if he can´t speak he would be enough his guitar to make oneself understood.He is the Master,the only one,inimitable,WONDERFUL!!!!!I adore him and I only wish,that he recover soon,and that he continue delighting us with his music,that he keep on demonstrating all that he is of value!! :headbang:

ok everybody votes for tolkki (we are in stratovarius page so this is not a surprise)

BUT, my vote goes for Pretucci, we can do more extensives solos, stunnigs scales , arpeggios and irregular scales. by all of this my vote goes for PRETUCCI.

ok petrucci is great and can play extensive complex songs...but PETRUCCI ARPPEGIOUS???? cmon petrucci is good in many technics but he cant make arppeggious....listen to dream theater and you will know that he doesnt do any arpegiou....the only time i saw him making an arppegiou on the metropolis 2000 show he made the dirtiest sound ive ever heard....he is a great guitar player but i dont like exercise musics like.....first part ill do panananananada papa....an there goes the other parts just by mixing the order of the scales....by all this ill say it again...TOLKKI RULEZ!!!!!!!!! but malmsteen is better anyway.....

Petrucci, easily. He's been my favorite guitarist for a LONG time now.

STUPID TOPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! But of course Romeo is the best out of them. I like Tolkki the same. Petrucci isn't shit compared to Romeo! But he is a great player.

IT IS IN MY OWN OPINION THAT PETRUCCI IS THE TOP OF THIS SHORT LIST FROM A LONG LIST OF GREAT PLAYERS TOLKKI IS = LY GREAT IN HIS OWN RIGHT AS FOR ROMEO I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT HIM
