Yes, the song sounds as if Tolkki wrote it about himself. I think he has suffered from Depression on&off for many years. His songs seem to reflect that---also, the Dreamspace&Destiny Eras seemed to be depressing times for TT.
No one knows what a person goes though unless you can walk a mile in his/her shoes......


But, songwriting has been a great outlet for TTs feelings--he needs to keep that up-it seems to be great therapy for him.

yeah, i feel the same way, but i also think that tolkki have done this since TWILIGHT TIME with OUT OF THE SHADOWS and in DREAMSPACE whit SHATTERED, i mean in the course of the strato-cds-history you can see some personal song, i think that MILLION LIGHTYEARS AWAY is also a personal song of KOTIPELTO i dont know why but i think that koti put some personal things of that song (you know his long time girlfried droped him some years ago)
and like those song theres other ones, let me tell you.....

Does anybody know when the lyrics from ATG were written ?

i think tolkki is trying to say to all of us that he doesn't fell's very good inside , n' he needs help but he don't know how as of it? , well that's what i think

I think shortly before Elements 2 was recorded in Spring 03--I think.
TT posted here that wrote the entire Lyrics for E2 in about 20 Minutes!
I think from what others have said, Tolkki was starting to become ill about that time.

Shattered is one of my fave tolkki-era songs. It rocks. :headbang:

There are many TT songs, where he writes beautiful words, how strong he is, and how beautiful and peaceful life is, and it seems that it has nothing to do with things we hear or know about him. I think that it is a result of very extreme and rapid changes of his mood - this is typical for depression.

Coming Home is similar to A Million Light Years Away. I bet, when Tolkki was touring, he really missed his family. Who wouldn't?

Coming Home is a very touching song-yes, it could be written about musicians...but, equally for businessmen, truckdrivers, military personnel, or anybody who has to be separated from people they love.

As for Million Lightyears Away, I interpret it as a "break-up" song...of people who love one another, yet cannot get along/are incompatible. Or, maybe of one partner who is abusive somehow to the other, yet still cares about him/her. Read carefully the words.....

In any case, I think wrote both thes songs from the heart.

And 4000 Rainy Nights, too--it is a break-up song, too, of a loving-yet, sad relationship.

Seriously, I am sort of a new fan, but I like their music soooooo much I just fell into it, head-over-heels!

The lyrics are so meaningful to alot of their songs--there is no such thing as an "empty" StratoSong.

Tolkki's songs are very touching....look, when i came to this country (less than a moth ago) i was happy....at the begining, 'cuz like y'll know..when u leave everyhting u have made behind (life, friends, personality girlfriends ) u are gonna feel bad even if u try to control your sadness, and, that song "Comimg Home" uff! it really touche my heart, besides, 4000 rainy nights, blck diamond, playing with fire, dreamweaver, ......waht can i say 'bout then? they are just part of my daily life, and will always be there, dunno if that happens to ya too, but it's like if TT knew me, like if was/is my friend, and compose those songs for me.....

And c'om i can't say nothin' about Elements, Mother Gaia, season of change, etc, etc, etc......When i heard those songs i......i im spechless.
