TT's Equipment?!
I know about his custum ESP-guitars, but what amp does he play, and what EQ and effects does he use?

Re: TT's Equipment?!
Timo plays a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier with at least the T.C. Electronics G Force.
Re: TT's Equipment?!
He's played with so many amps, Laney, Marshall, Mesa/Boogie, Line6. And the effects, well, he's got many tones, all albums sound different but I guess it's always quite a soup of effects, at least that's how he says it

Re: TT's Equipment?!
Slayer, my guitars are bolt on.
I used ENGL Powerball on the last Stratovarius gigs.
I had a Mesa Rectifier, but that was/is broken.
Effects:live I use TC Electronics G-Force, in studio whatever the
song needs, usually some harmonizer for the rhytm guitars and the same plus some delay for the solos.
You can buy an ESP Stratovarius from ESP Japan. I don´t think it´s a cataloque guitar, you have to order it separately I think.

Isn't G-Force some sort of pre-descessor to the G-Major?TimoTolkki wrote:Slayer, my guitars are bolt on.

You said "som harmonizer on the rythm guitars". Do you add- a hint of octaves or some other form of harmony?

Re: TT's Equipment?!
How much is it going for? Probably around $3,000 something if it's the real deal. Must be nice to get them for free. My teacher Joe Stump also has a sponsorship. He has some sweet ESP Strats. You should have them make you one. I remember you were getting into the Stratocaster. I'm looking to buy a new axe, maybe if the Strato guitar is a decent price I'll go for it.TimoTolkki wrote: You can buy an ESP Stratovarius from ESP Japan. Do you use your G Force Distortion or Amp distortion? Your sound is way too tight for the amp distortion (it seems that way).
By the way, don't sell your studio. Your way to fucking good at producing. I'll have you produce and record my solo album as soon as it's written. Even if it's at a different studio. You may know some of the guys that I'm getting to record with me. Probably will be a year from now when everything is set.

Re: TT's Equipment?!
I need to know about this guitar. I may just buy an ordinary M-II. I have a feeling an ESP Tolkki model is around $3,000 dollars. I would probably pay $1,500 or maybe $1,800. That endorsement must be nice. (Timo, you need to hook me up!) I heard that the ESP custom shop is making Timo a new guitar with a tree of life fret inlay type deal. I guess it's an Elements Part II theme. I want to see this guitar!
Re: TT's Equipment?!
I would also like to know how much a custom strato. esp would cost.
tree of life ? sounds interesting

Hi !
I know Timo Tolkki plays on stage always ESP and he plays on studio albums all his solos with ESP and the acoustic parts with Gibson. In the booklet of "Destiny" and "Infinite" it is also said he uses Ibanet guitars. Anybody knows for what ? I suspect for the rhythm-parts, because on Infinite they sound harder than before.

I haven't killed him yet sir,
But when I do, I shall have the stomach and the liver too,
And the floppily doppilies in their horrid glue.

Re: TT's Equipment?!
From EMG Support-section:
Either it's the lightning or Tolkki really has two 85's in his guitar. A bit odd, because the 85 is intended primarily as a rythm pickup. I could be wrong, though.
I have no idea about his Seymour Duncan's.
Then we look at this picture:you can tell the specific model by the color of the EMG logo on the face of the pickup. For example, if you have a humbucker sized pickup with a silver logo, it is an EMG-81; with a gold logo, it's an EMG-85.

Re: TT's Equipment?!
for me it looks like a gold emg in the bridge position and a silver at the neck..
but maybe my eyes just play tricks on me.^^

Timo,
Are they really making you a new custom shop? Probably done by now if the rumor was true. Sounded like a sweet deal!

I gave away all my other guitars. The last one I gave away was Visions, which I gave to my brother who is hosting www.metalquiz.com and there will be a competition there. Check it out, you might win.
My new guitars are just basic stock ESP M2 deluxe, with custom paintings and no scalloped fretboards anymore.
I am again experimenting with which amps I´ll bring to tour.
Let´s see.
I am in the process or reopening my website in a few months and also a site for my company GoldenWorks Entertainment.

Re: TT's Equipment?!
Timo,
You are a very generous fellow. I really respect that. I would sacrifice my soul for the Visions guitar! (maybe not that far....)
I just got a Metaltronix M-1000. It's a sweet amp. I'm going for the Akira Takasaki Soldier of Fortune tone.

Cool, the visions one would look perfect on my bedromm's wall, but I think my fellow guitarits would kill me for that But the website thing is great, I was just planning to ask you when you were going to open it again. Will you reopen your forum as well ?TimoTolkki wrote:I just order new guitars 2 days ago:)Holy Light wrote:Timo,

Re: TT's Equipment?!
There is no competition up yet. It should be a shredding competition, maybe something I can win. Like solo over this backing track and send it back. lol
Re: TT's Equipment?!
I think that the ESP vision is THE guitar, THE CHOOSEN ONE ( i sound like matrix ) ... Is the best guitar
Timo just a question... when you play in countrys.. ( example argentina ) do u pick up the other bands that play with you?

Re: TT's Equipment?!
On the picture, I think Timo uses 2 EMG 89. For his Seymour Duncan pickups, I think he uses a Full Shred on bridge and a SH1 or SH2 on neck.
